When my dd and team mates did odp, they had two teams at most single birth year age groups and the friendship cup matches were all against the same birth year teams from WA, North CA, Idaho, even Alaska. The teams from WA were odp and EDP teams, not regular oysa teams like the WA Timbers. Now they don’t even have a 2002 team and the 03 team’s only odp competition is a WA 04 team? Boy times have changed. That said, it’s still soccer and the girls should all have fun.

On our way in the morning. Regardless of what others may say, our kids are excited and will have fun.

It was an ODP event only for a long time.

Now and recently it is a ODP, mls academy, and select top club teams for boys and girls.

Some age groups have a larger turn out than others as is with every single tournament in this country.

Playing ODP is a good experience to be evaluated and play with other kids around you. If you are better than the rest you move on. Some people couldn’t take this or accept this so they hid behind their club team or simply don’t want to do it again. Majority of the top players do it at least once some for every year. You ll find players way better than anything from this state at the regional and national level.

When some people can’t do something or don’t get invited to something it easier to try and find the bad in it to justify your feelings. People who have perspective see it as a unique experience and nothing more.

Good luck to all the local teams playing in the friendship cup this year. Should be a fun weekend of soccer for all the kids.

Lots of kids stopped doing ODP at the older ages because of Academy, ECNL and just busy high school kids. It’s still fun though.

It is still fun especially for the younger age groups.

Sour grapes. Our girls have had fun so far. No one is trying to win a World
Cup at 10-12 years old, but it’s been a good couple days of soccer so far.

Some of the boys games are really intense. There are some good games this weekend.

What's the deal with the Thorns ODP teams and the hodge podge of non matching shirts/kits? You would think there would be a kit standard for this tournament.
