    The More You Know!
Do you know where they are getting funds to subsidize the DA programs?

Is it from Timber’a revenue or is from money collected from OYSA fees?

Why do you think Peregrine is subsidizing the Thorns???

      1) From all their revenue streams.

      2) Yes and yes, and from Thorns revenue, beer sales, etc. Money is fungible.

      3) Because they want to operate an academy for girls, and their program is far more expensive to run than a part-time ECNL team.

You are pretty naive or playing stupid.

League fees and State Cup fees are the cash revenue portion of youth soccer which in Oregon goes to Peregrine. Their is already a surplus from this revenue stream to fund the Thorns Academy.

If they did not have a relevant team then more players would go over to ECNL clubs which would reduce the money from league and State Cup to Peregrine.

It is all economics. If they did not subsidize they would basically have a pool of players who were cut from their HS team and looking for a place to play in the Fall

Just 5 suite sales annually cover it for the Thorns DA funding.

Didn't say they couldn't afford it.

Peregrine can fully fund the academy if he wanted to, but is not going to fund more than he has to.

Rich people did not get rich by giving away their money.

Which makes what they do for Girls simply amazing in Oregon. Thanks for sharing your POV.

They do it to keep the OYSA league fees and OYSA state cup fees.

I am surprised that you still do not understand this one.

It is all business. Why would clubs market "pre ECNL" ? It is everyone trying to get some of the multi billion dollars that we spend on youth sports in this country.

If they were simply doing it for the girls they would not spend so much time trying to recruit kids over. If the cost was the same as ECNL, no one would do DA. It is a business decision.

We are getting off topic but your comment begs a question - why does a business the size of peregrine need a 501c3 to admin their program? Westside may have a good soccer history but their run in the da was unremarkable; given Peregrine’s resources, it is odd they need anything from a 501c3.

Is this just so Thorns can get access to the rec center?

The leadership and unprecedented youth DA investment by the Pro Nwsl & Mls club is staggering and unrivaled locally.

The local clubs need to move the needle in this sphere and fund it for the kids sake, just like the pro club does.

Funny every dollar local 501c3s bring in goes back into the sport.

No money for daddy Warbuck, except the money they skim off of OYSA.

Actually, in Oregon's landscape of 501c3 Soccer clubs, on average nearly 70 to 80% of all club revenues collected never go back into the sport per say. Instead it goes directly into the pockets of unemployed soccer bums on the non profit club 'payroll', this is the 'sport' of stealing.

Coaches are part of the sport; maybe you are overpaid, most of the ones I know are underpaid.

No money for Paulson in our world, except of course what they squeeze out of OYSA - so sad!

Wait Thorns practice at the rec center? Thought you needed to have a high percentage of players live in district?

                              1) From their bank account it's a line item budgeted expense, for their boys and girls DA.

                              2) They are the countries most successful pro club for Women. They want youth teams.

Thanks for your crazy tangent, but I guess you don't realize timbers and thorns have invested millions in THPRD and have an agreement for exclusive field use.

You need to let it go, you are gripping again.
