would love to know what showcase you are taking your kid to that you feel is so amazing

Regardless. Still think it was pointless to spend all the time, money and resources to go to San Diego with a bunch of 7th and 8th graders. Especially at the possible cost of not being able to go to ENCL National Playoffs. Not to mention they went and played three games instead of playing two against conference opponents that are, on paper and by result, pretty good games.

From the collegiate level alone, over 400 scouts and head coaches from all NCAA Divisions, including 250+ from Division 1 schools, came out in waves to the Summer Showcase and Playoffs.
Dozens of MLS and USL clubs represented domestic professional programs scouting top talent while 30+ international scouts came from some of the biggest leagues around the world including Bundesliga, Serbian SuperLiga, Liga MX, English Premier League and Eredivisie.
Every one of the 638 games played during the 2018 Development Academy Summer Showcase, Playoffs and Championships was observed by at least one U.S. Soccer Scout, Technical Advisor or Youth National Team head coach.
At the Summer Showcase and Playoffs, all nine U.S. Soccer Boys' Technical Advisors were in attendance, along with 23 regional network scouts from across the country. Boys' Youth National Team head coaches were also engaged, shifting across the 22 full-length fields with their eyes out for players ready for the next development step: the U.S. Youth National Teams.
During the eight days of Girls' competitions in Oceanside, the entire team of nine U.S. Soccer Girls' Technical Advisors descended upon SoCal Sports Complex, along with 22 regional network scouts. All Women's YNT head coaches on the Girls' side were also an integral part of scouting the fields: April Kater (U-14), Tracey Kevins (U-15), Mark Carr (U-17), Jaime Frias (U-18), Keri Sarver (U-19), Jitka Klimkova (U-20) as well as Technical Director April Heinrichs.
Pretty sure that answers your question!

1. Butt-hurt ECNL Dad makes sweeping generalizations that the DA sucks, usually punctuated by “look how bad the USMNT is”, in an effort to convince himself and others that the talent pool, exposure, and opportunities are just as good in boys ECNL as they are in DA.
2. DA Dad provides hard facts, links, and other harsh realities that confirm that ECNL Dad is a moron.
3. ECNL Dad comes back “guns a blazing” with the ole “well, your kid is still going to end up at the same exact dead end D2 school at the end of it all that he would’ve gotten to if he was in ECNL”. No facts, no links, and literally zero information to back it up.
4. DA Dad realizes that just like in the real world, not everyone can be management or a business owner, and everyone else has an excuse or reason as to why they didn’t make it when someone else did. Rarely, if ever, just admitting that maybe the people who “made it” were just, at the end of the day, better.
End of argument!

And yeah, 75 colleges including including Juco and CC's is not a good showcase on this level especially when you factor cost of the league, the tournament, travel, hotel, food etc...
If you think that is ok in your opinion, then why'd you join? You should have stayed in NPL or FYSA got better exposure.

“DA in Florida sucks”. So where does that put boys ECNL in Florida?
“Kids want to play HS”. If your kid wants to play HS, he probably doesn’t have the goals/desires that the majority of DA kids have.
“DA is just a money grab”. Most clubs lose money or break even on their DA programs.
There are more, but I’ve gotta run.
