Therefore: 750,000,000 people infected in the world (not the 36,500,000 current cases per John's Hopkins). 750M cases with 1,061,997 deaths is a mortality of 0.14%. Say deaths are undercounted by 500,0000 in other parts of the world means a mortality of 0.2%. The seasonal flu has a mortality of 0.1%
Conclusion: COVID without vaccine or widely used therapeutics is only twice as deadly as the seasonal flu with a vaccine and widely use therapeutics.
The best path should have been, after we flattened the curve and we learned more (which we have) to open up while protecting the vulnerable (those >65 with comorbidities).
