    declining club

OW has lost the plot. In their efforts to stay relevant they've sold themselves to US Soccer and sacrificed their soul. In the process they've become a club with a 'good ol boys' feel. After two decades of mistreating customers because they were the only show in town they can't find teams to populate their indoor leagues. They now coach exclusively to get results and their players suffer. The nail in the coffin will be is US Soccer decides to split the Academy into tiers and OW isn't in the top tier. Then in 5-10 years time OW will be as relevant as SC Premier is today.

They didn't have much choice other than hitch onto the USSF wagon. They aren't the only local Club to rest in its prior laurels and fail to read the changing landscape. SC, YU, now OW and BS starting to tread water

OW sucks, their OPI tourney sucks, their bloated ego'd coaches suck, their facilities are falling apart, no one shows up for their indoor leagues and 95% of CT soccer thinks RD is an azzhat

The list of college coaches attending the OPI is laughable.

Tier 1 is for MLS teams. So yeah, it’ll be hard for Oakwood to be in that.

Taking MLS out of DA will hurt DA2 more than USSF realizes (if it happens; still rumors) One of the marketing points for DA now at a non MLS mid level club like OW is "you get to play some of the top teams in the country, even vs MLS clubs." Take that out away and you're paying big$ to play 2nd tier teams, traveling a ton (again $) and giving up HS sports. Not so appealing is it?

                    And the watering down begins

                    DA1, DA2, Ecnl, npl, edp

I think OW should go to the ECNL and drop the DA badge. It's too much of a burden. They are seeking out a very specific player. They miss out on two types top end players. Those that seek MLS DA and those top end players that don't want to forgo HS school.

If they dropped down to ECNL, they would at least be able to expand their pool by tapping in the top end HS market.

They'll never be able to compete with MLS DA's because they just don't have the resources and they never will.

The DA mixed age group is going to kill ow. Kids will fall out of program. Besides all the other stuff. Not a lot of love for these people

So Oakwood sends a team of GDA girls to Jefferson Cup and they can only manage a 1-0 win over an NPL team? That's what 7 straight months of US Soccer training does for you? A 1-0 win over a team of girls who played high school all fall and haven't played outdoors together as a team yet?

Ow has npl teams you dolt. GDA teams aren't allowed to do non DA events. And yes their npl teams are not great since they pushed everyone to do DA

                              - Not @ OW
