This thread has totally gotten off topic. It was about what what teams are doing now. It seems like every thread is turned into a ENCL vs local soccer debate. At least we have finally taken DA out of the conversation

We just let him cry it out. He tuckers himself out eventually. Then someone changes him and gets him a warm bottle of milk before putting him down in his crib.

He's got quite a bad case of the tantrums.
Can someone get Title IX Ted a pacifier?

If you think local is the surrounding states and national events. I guess we have a different definition of local.

So what. ECNL is still pretty good.

Oregon never had enough talent to even field teams in the old DA system--NWSL mothership got the nod from the US Soccer leadership. Our local clubs are playing locally, like it should be, they get a travel tourney in here or there absolutely. Like these neighborhood clubs say HS Soccer is their nirvana.

That's the whole crux of the argument, you aren't travelling for soccer related activitives ...it's the reality you are travelling for the sake of travel. Touche'. Why travel with girls who are interested in only soccer? Instead travel with your friends and family together and play pick up soccer at the area park during vaca? Finally some oxygen has arrived in this room.

I'm guessing he would suck on the pacifier, if the local soccer bums would stop sucking bank accounts of clueless travel parents. Fair deal.

                    ECNL teams are good.

The top OYSA teams are good.

ENCL showcase events can help "bubble" players get notice.

Generally, "bubble" players are going to be receiving scholarship compensation that doesn't cover the cost of HS travel soccer.

If you wanna do ECNL, do ECNL. Some people think the increased travel is fun, and there's a cachet to it, certainly.

But if any coach tells you that "you have to join my league/club if you want a shot at the NCAA", he or she is lying. The biggest factors in determining a player's success are that player's talent, work ethic, and time spent on the ball. A few hours a week with this soccer bum vs that one, is not going to be the deciding factor.

Nor is being picked out of the hundreds of other players in attendance, at a cattle call.

Find a good coach and one who is willing to help with recruitment. Best odds.

Another desperate OYSA coach spotted. Hard work and commitment aren't the only ingredients for development.

Playing the same 10 teams for your entire youth career is repetitive. Traveling and playing different teams, teams you have never played before and must adjust affords tremendous development while playing under pressure. This is just one example why ECNL is a great option for players seeking the next level and pursuing collegiate soccer opportunities.

Don't be naive. This goes for club sports in general.
