8 of the top ranked teams are East of the Mississippi (Stanford #9)
So why did you only list 5 and not 20 like before?

You also conveniently left out that JR from MA was on Indiana.

Apologies but the conversations flip a lot. I wasn't twisting anything but was in girl mode now that my D is being recruited.

I have a son playing far away and I can say that it was not easy to get him the necessary exposure. If I hadn't had a ton of airline miles for flights and hotels it would have cost us a small fortune. Two camps we sent him totally on his own which was good for him to grow up some.

Isn’t there a girl from NH on the Duke squad? How many more did you miss?

The Duke coach came to the NEFC college event a couple of years and plucked those kids for his roster.

Not the poster, I did the women's list. Here's the rest of the men's

            Indiana 1MA
            Wake Forest - 1 CT
            Maryland - 1 CT
            Akron - 1 MA
            Louisville -1 RI
            UNC
            Notre Dame 1CT
            Kentucky
Stanford 2 CT, both redshirted (playing time is another important question in this)
            Virginia 3MA 1CT
            St Mary's CA
            Michigan State 2MA
            VA Tech
            Georgetown 2 CT
            Duke 2CT
            James Madison
            AirForce
            West VA
            U Denver
            Rhode Island 6RI 3CT

So that's a total 20 women from MA/CT/RI with 11 schools west of the MS river, 27 men with 16 east of the MS river (with URI tipping it much higher with 9).

So call it at most 30 for each gender out of approximately 500 total players per gender. Actually not that out of line with total population ratios, but it speaks to the odds of making a top 20 roster aren't great. We just don't send that many kids to those programs.

My player isn't going to these school. Feel free to analyze schools 50-125.

On the men’s side, there are a ton of foreign-born players with some of the top programs fielding 1/2 the team with players born overseas. So it’s not just MA or New England, but most of the U.S. that can’t make it on to a top D1 college roster. Debatable whether this is historical coaching preference or a current lack of skilled players

That’s top 20. Those kids are unicorns and the needs of those programs quite unique. Now if you look at all of the D1 and D2 rosters of all of the programs in states touching Massachusetts the picture would be vastly different. Recruiting across all sports has always been a regional thing. This region’s issue is you have few “big” time athletic programs that actually set being in the top 20 as a goal so your data is really misleading. That doesn’t mean we aren’t sending a good number of kids to the D1/D2 levels. There are roster spot that need to be filled, the question really becomes where DO the players come from. The ultimate thing you see though is for all the money and effort parents around here put into club soccer a lot of the rosters are disproportionately weighted with NY/NJ kids. That’s really an indictment of our biggest clubs around here and the soccer environment they have created around here. Something isn’t right when programs like BU, PC and NU have fewer instate players than out of state ones. Either our kids just aren’t good enough or the clubs are failing us.

Maybe our soccer players just aren't as intelligent and can't get in to schools like these.

Or they're not as good players. There's that too. Look at the boy's commit lists each year. The three in state DA clubs aren't even sending many players to quality programs. NY and NJ and PA and down into MD and VA has some very good clubs and obviously a much bigger player pool. Those kids will look at our top MA schools as well as the locals

Wonder if you did an analysis whether there are more international players in local college rosters or players from NY/NJ/PA?

Having both a son and daughter is that there aren’t as many good programs outside of varsity HS for boys as there are for girls. Other than Bolts and Revs, most DA programs end at U-12 or U14 (GPS, NEFC, Valeo) and that’s the same for a lot of the smaller non-DA clubs as well. Boys’ interest in staying with club doesnt seem as strong into HS, maybe because they have so many other sports options.

May be a different story down south or out west where the weather is better or there is a stronger soccer culture.
