So what? Why do you care? Kids all deserve a chance to prove they can play.

US Soccer has not done a good jobs with the men. Why are they trying to get involved with the women/girls?

The men didn't even qualify for the world cup this year. It was embarrassing.

Hopefully they don't do the same with the girls/women.

I'd probably do the opposite of whatever they do.

Those that didn't get selected for the DA can be called the 'best' in HS if they elected to play this fall. Makes sense. Top shelf leaves those left behind are indeed the best of what's left.

I wish all the kids would go back and play HS it's become a talent-less void where the 'best' teams left get smacked by 8 to 10 goals in the semis and final. It's sad. HS Soccer is not a Happy place unless you were a bench player or a senior on the block to be cut, nowadays you gets to play due to the movement of players to the DA at your school. Kids that would be normally get cut in the fall are starters due to the DA rapture. See HS results that back this up.

Girl’s High School was so bad in the Portland Metro area, not a single goal was scored against the State champions.

That’s the product you’re buying with the girls DA. What’s that smell?

If they allow high school basketball, why not high school soccer?

I think it might help with recruiting.

Soccer needs to be a serious pursuit if you are to be a national team player. I don't care if the Alex Morgan's of the world liked winning their high school state championship. That is not relevant. Imagine how much better she would be if she did not have the distraction of peers in high school. Having fun is not part of the model.

You don't get promoted at work by standing around laughing at the water cooler. You work late, evenings, weekends and holidays. That is how you get ahead. You have to make sacrifices.

Having fun is not part of a childhood. Listen up people! Your daughter is only a kid once, make sure she spends it working hard.

They of course need to play against this special upper crest elite, this way they develop and get better through competition.

US Soccer has the top 100 players in each age and gender identified it's what their scouts do do full time. Having these specials all in the DA is incredible and they (US Soccer) wouldn't want it any other way.

The other kids who play USYS or US Club and are not part of the DA, specifically the kids who live outside of DA clubs are identified by US Soccer as well. It's worth noting just because their home state can't earn a DA club, it's not held against them. They still have a chance.

The DA is the vehicle that carries all of our nation's most elite youth phenoms, it's been producing college soccer's finest players, USYNT members and MLS american Pros like clockwork for the better part of the last 10 years with the boys. Now the girls are now allowed in the elite car and right away USYNT feature only the Girls DA products and top colleges are chasing the DA girls players in hopes of landing the best of the best.

Whether you agree with this infrastructure and operational system of identification of our nation's elite youth. Since it may be matter dear to your pocketbook and heart it means nothing to those in charge running the show.

Fly away and enjoy your special time.

Let the others do their thing, nobody is bothered.
You are completing ignoring the fact that the GDA is not functioning like the boys right now. It has not been around long enough to say the players last year and this were “developed” by the DA program in a lengthy way. Most players picked for NT and D1 schools last year and agin this year, were largely developed by ECNL or maybe USYS league teams. Looking at the GDA as it functions now for development, the fracturing of the top 20% of talent across multiple leagues is apparent. Specific examples, you really need? It is widely known the 5-6 top teams that left GDA last year and went back to ECNL over the DA rules as they stand today. And these are just the top teams that left. Many top players left individually and many will again potentially this year because of these rules. So you can take your “nobody cares” “snowflake” comments and shop them elsewhere. The US is big geographically and the 1% of players that have a shot at playing at a national team camp need the 19%+ of next talented players in their region to be playing with and against week in and week out.

Clarification, the 5-6 top teams that left were not the only top teams, many many great teams remain in the GDA. The real issue is the make up of the individual players on the GDA teams. This is where there is a bigger problem. Individual players that are great, maybe not the 1% yet, but who should be motivated without question to stay GDA thru U19 for the betterment of clustering top top talent together and making each other stronger and potential for our national team pool to be stronger. I am not saying having all the top percentage of players playing in one league will guarantee national team success, clearly looking at the boys DA there are other factors that need to be addressed, but this factor seems like a pretty basic “check this off your list” first for the GDA.

None of the players are or were ever developed by ECNL or DA. ECNL loved to take credit for the player development and now DA (US Soccer) is doing the same.

These players play for clubs that are or were affiliated with ECNL, DA, or something else.

Many of players are choosing ECNL or DA based on the current affiliation of their clubs and to some extent, the desire to play HS soccer. Girls doing well on their ECNL team are not leaving their ECNL club to go join a DA club. Likewise, girls are not leaving their DA club unless they have a strong desire to go play HS soccer. All of the other details, etc is just a lot of nonsense.

These clubs are hopefully making decisions that are best for their members.

How many players will be national team players and be able to make a career in women's soccer. How about trying to be a little more realistic?

Most college athletes turn pro in something other than their sport.

Players playing DA are not the only ones making sacrifices and getting better. There is more than one path. You have to enjoy what you are doing to get ahead.

I think the best thing they could do if they wanted to improve the quality would be to give waivers to all the girls to play high school soccer. That might help?
