    You are an uninformed.

    FSU beat UCLA 4-1.

Both teams were coming off over time ties 2 days before. FSU 0-0 to USC. UCLA 0-0 to Florida.

UCLA was missing both Jess Fleming (Canada) and Hailie Mace (US) due to NT responsibilities.

FSU and UF do have a game coming up, that part you happen to get correct.

Then many more African Americans will be transfering in from the community colleges too. It isn't rocket science to keep up the African American numbers.

So your still pulling for Affirmative Action? Seriously, Any kid who's grades and scores are that good can write their ticket to almost any school. Those scores would put you at a surplus with merit money at USF.

Stop your BS and discuss the bigger issues that affect the African American community instead whining about not getting into UF fool.

Racial diversity percentage prove nothing except maybe that fewer African American apply to these schools. File a law suit like the Asian did against Harvard and see where it gets you. If you have the grades/scores to get in, the universities will be tripping over each other to give you merit awards for tuition. Quit being sniveling idiot and work for it.

UF should offer the merit money to grab them over other colleges and get that % up.

UF offers very little merit money. It should be based on merit and not skin color. Mine bypassed lots from the others cost UF so I’m glad this isn’t the policy

Absolutely it should be merit based. There are large societal reasons why people of people of color are less likely to attend college let alone prestigious colleges. One school can only do so much to address societal ills. Bending some to diversify the student body is one thing; some kids are close to cutoffs and there's something about them that indicates they deserve a shot. Tossing out guidelines outright just to make a quota, however, is a bad idea. Kids that aren't qualified are more likely to struggle and possibly even drop out. That doesn't do them or the school any good.

'Florida’s ban on race-based admissions, plus UF’s rising ranks and more competitive applicant pool, can make the goal of diversity more difficult. UF has to ensure that it’s not losing students of color to other top schools — especially in states with more need-based aid.

Student body president Ian Green, who is black, has launched Bridges, an initiative with UF admissions that reaches into Florida high schools to give underrepresented students academic support and help visiting campus.

UF also offers resources like the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, which each year supports 350 low-income, first-generation students.'

These supports and scholarships are helping attract more low income students to attend UF.

Or the undergraduate black percentages could also reflect that less blacks are getting admitted as freshmen, or less are accepting their offers to UF and choosing colleges like USF with merit money, or less are applying or getting admitted from the community colleges, or less are making it to the senior year, or a combination of all of the above.

This site shows UF statistics for fall 2017 and every other prior year. Click on 2017 bar first.
                      https://ir.aa.ufl.edu/uffacts/enrollment-1/

2016- Blacks accounted for 5.92% of the total UF undergraduate enrollment
2017- Blacks accounted for 6.01% of the total UF undergraduate enrollment

Click on year and the freshman piece of the circle graph.
2016- Blacks accounted for 9.19% of 3,505 (total UF freshmen count)
2017- Blacks accounted for 10% of 2,959 (the total freshmen count)
2018- will be published in Feb. 2018.

It does appear that UF is putting an emphasis on recruiting more freshmen qualified black students. Perhaps, the Coalition Application that UF has used for only two years is allowing UF to recruit more out-of-state black students too.

Why must they ensure that? Please explain real benefit of admitting anyone other the than the brightest? If the top 3000 applying happen to be African American or any minority, then bring them in. If not, FSU or UCF or fine plan B and plan C schools.

They really dominated UCLA, though.UCLA was without arguably their two best players, however.

FSU has more international players than any team I’ve watched.
FSU has a 24 player roster with 7 international players, 9 Florida players and 8 from other states.

"As we become more selective and become higher-ranked, we don’t want to lose the soul of the university — that it’s a university intended, as all public universities are, for all people," President Kent Fuchs said.
