This list is so great to see. Most of these boys either played with or against my child over the years and it's a pleasure to see them realize their academic and athletic dreams. Congrats to all.

Nothing nefarious intended. Just wondering if some or all of them successfully enhanced their chances of getting into the schools they were seeking by doing the PG year.

That was a really nice post. You are a fine role model for some on the board.

Just to clarify since I asked the question, and since there has seemed to be a negative tilt towards PGs......I think it's great. A kid has to make a real sacrifice and spend an extra pursuing what they want. I applaud him. I got turned down from a clinical internship I really wanted, and instead of accepting others, I moved and went and got a job at the facility where the internship was, and I got in the next year. 2 years later I was the chief resident. Was the best thing I ever did. The more difficult, circuitous route sometimes pays off in the end. I argue with my wife about this all the time, but there is an argument for kids going to college a year older with more maturity, especially if he/she is on the young side (chronologically or maturity-wise) to begin with.

interesting looking at the list a lot of athletes from private school seem to be attending the somewhat elite $$ schools (Colby, Williams) so are they getting scholarships to attend these schools. Not taking anything away from the athlete but just wondering it is interesting if you think about it and is the student at the private really a better athlete/student than others.

They are not getting any athletic scholarship money at those schools because they don't offer athletic money...

                              nescac

nescacs school can't give athletic scholarships, although many of the coaches can help setup an athlete to get a scholarship through another program. and it doesnt have to do with private vs. public, its that nescac is (arguably) the best d3 league in the country and also offers great educational opportunities

I believe that NCAA rules expressly prohibit a coach at a D3 school from having input into the awarding of scholarships. If this does happen (and there's enough discussion of it so it's probably true), it is too bad that the relationship between a student and her/his school has to start with the breaking of a rule designed to keep athletics from warping the admission and education of students.
