What can I say… The club claims to have fair tryouts and select best players for their CUP teams, yet parents report that if you have not played for CU in the past, there is no way of making the top CUP team. Presumably parents that are already “in the system” throw a fit and coaches fall into the pressure and would rather select internal kids than to pick a true talent from outside.
More power to them, but it is sad to see a lesser quality players being picked over someone who stands out, but didn’t spend the money at the club at early ages. Go ahead and try out for them, but keep your eyes open for a marketing spill about to be poured on you how *ahem* great they are.
Another thing to keep in mind is poor communication – good luck getting any kind of meaningful response from their leadership, that’s just not going to happen. Feel sorry for the kids playing there, but hey, it makes for one heck of a story at a dinner table.
