You shouldn't of said anything, If there's money to be made in it they'll set up a DA shooting program.

All these activities are non essentials luxuries but soccer is the cheapo kid activity of the world except for here.

Travel soccer is a luxury, not a necessity. I would love to live in a mansion on the ocean, but i understand that this is beyond my means. Go back to recreation soccer if your job does not produce the money needed to play.

If you keep paying, the club will charge more. $1500, give me a break.

Absolutely true here. But when you get interested in the sport and learn, you realize that the very high cost situation for competitive soccer is fairly unique to this country. Elsewhere, youth soccer is financed from the top down instead of the bottom up.

But it is the case that here, high level youth soccer is an expensive luxury except for a few MLS teen teams.

There are affordable options out there but most families will eschew them for pricey clubs that promise college exposure and nice uniforms yet have mediocre coaching at best. Until parents start pushing back and choosing less expensive options for their kids clubs will continue to charge what they think the market will bear.

Have your kid play pick up games for free in heavily Hispanic towns and watch his skills grow by leaps and bounds.

It's a choice to play club travel soccer and it costs. Our club asked us to fund raise one year and it was embarrassing. Other than a grandparent, who wants to give your family money for your sport that they need it for their own activities and interests? I refused after that first experience.

Yes. I think it is ok to ask for help for the most affordable options for struggling kids to get a chance to participate.

But for expensive travel soccer? That is luxury product. Remember how well it went over on TS wham a family asked for help to send their player to spain?

people keep saying that , its not true... playing travel soccer in socialist Europe, or third world south America is expensive, its not cheap.... yes, there are way better opportunities for the 1 % of the superstuds, but for the majority of kids whos parents put them on travel teams, its NOT CHEAP, not anywhere in the world (not sure about asia)

Playing in Hispanic towns will be just as expensive. I'll either have to buy a used toyota or Uber the kid. No way I am parking the Lexus. And don't forget the time wasted waiting for the game to start. 2:00 pm is more like 4:00 pm-ish.

I know you're joking, but many club soccer families (who are mostly middle to upper income) have a very elitist attitude when it comes to soccer and where their kids play.

Wrong. Iceland and Germany it is a very small fraction of the cost a us family would have to shell out.

Elsewhere in the world it's about the talent, not who can write a check.

About $4 a month per player in Germany in 2014, including everything (even medical insurance) except shin guards and cleats.
