High School Girl Teams - 2017/18

Plant vs PHU in district final?!?!? Let's not assume, upsets happen all the time!

Will GDA players who came back to teams in the GDA off season be a deciding factor now?
      Very well said!

FHYSAA should change the rule to state that soccer players must play in 75% of their district games by January 15 to be eligible to play in the district playoffs beginning Jan 22. The district schools should be able to see their competition. Who cares about the other games three hours away or cross town rivalries out of district?

Trust me, your daughter cares about crosstown rivalries - in some ways more than flying across the country to play some unknown girls in San Diego.

By the time these girls reach Sophomore year, some have been playing the game for 10 years - with and against many girls on the assorted H.S. teams in the area. The don't care whose 3A, 4A, or DA. The good players want to play against the good players - and beat them - in front of boyfriends, the Boys team, grandparents, teachers, etc.

Haha There are few fans at the high schools games. There are better club games against San Diego teams.

The ones that they really care about are there and that’s what matters.

The only people who go to club games are usually one parent per player, if that and sometimes a few unwilling siblings who are dragged along. Daytime regular season HS games have light attendance (parents work, kids have other activities) but nighttime games get better, and playoffs are pretty good. It is a lot of fun to hear your name on the loudspeaker, play with kids you've played with most of your life, play in front of classmates, get the school swag, get your name in the paper, get named an all state player. Is HS for everyone? Of course not. But there is no doubt it has a strong draw for many. USSF thought girls would leap over like the boys did. However this time around the girls have options, and they've seen that in ten years of BDA boys soccer has made very little progress.

They would leap over to DA but DA is giving them an IN to doing both. GDA players are not attracted to poor performing HS teams but only the good high school programs.

NO. NO. NO. Stop it! Do not highjack this thread into another horribly boring discussion about the GDA. There are 10 other threads to regurgitate that crap. Get it off here.

Get back to Largo vs. PHU.

Why so you can brag over one time win. You won now move on!

I guess they passed that real test last night. Won 3-1

District quarters, semis, and final are the only games that matter. Why are there regular season games still going on this weekend?
