they dont require the state test (accreditation) they all have degrees
you are proof that degrees don't guarantee common sense
In that area St J is in the middle of the academic pack. Better than towns like Stratford, Shelton and certainly Ansonia or Bridgeport. But it's not the same quality as Westport, Fairfield, Easton/Redding, Darien etc. It also isn't as strong as Prep, Laurelton and definitely not St Lukes, GFA or Hopkins.

Here's schools ranked by SAT scores (public).

"No, they give financial assistance. Just like Williams, Amherst and Wesleyan."

SJ gives financial assistance is based on a family's FAFSA application - not the student's athletic ability. With so many comments regarding the less than stellar academics at SJ, how would JN "recruit" given the tuition and academics, versus an athlete going to her public high school for free? Parents either have to drive their kids to school every day and back (or pay for Uber - no busing is provided) until the kids can drive themselves. Would you want to deal with the Merritt every morning just to get your kid to school?

Kids from wealthy towns like Westport must have very good reasons to attend SJ that are not related to soccer. It otherwise does not make sense.

1180 puts them behind these FCIAC schools:
Darien, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Wilton, Greenwich, Staples, Ludlowe, Westhill

St Joe's is rated #44 out of #58 in best CT private high schools. Why bother?

There are bus routes available, plus a carpool app, but feel free to just make things up if it suits you.

there are bus routes but very expensive
i think the point was it is much more convenient to go to town public- Stjs requires effort and it starts with simply getting your kid to and from

The point was actually this, “Parents either have to drive their kids to school every day and back (or pay for Uber - no busing is provided)”. Which is false.

you have to pay for busing, Uber transport is not provided for
                      which is true

Bus costs extra. Of course families find a way to make it work logistically if that's what they want. But the point of why would you if you're in a high performing FREE district? Catholic education for some, smaller school feel(but not really smaller class sizes) vs the bigger schools. The reality is some kids do go there because of sports. I know of a few kids from our town that have, boys and girls. Would I do it? Never. Education is our # concern, nto sports, which is why we live in our district. We're Catholic too lol. Do coaches "recruit"? Maybe. Would playing there for a few months make that big a difference in your kids development? I'm skeptical since most of it comes from club play and what work a player does on their own. HS accolades are nice for resume bullet points but don't do much for college coaches. They see what they see. If you're all NE, All American, POY level you'll get noticed wherever you play.

CFC 02s will dominate FCIAC. Best team ever???

Quick question... What have they ever won (besides CT CUP for some of them)? Half those girls will play one year of college realize the they are small fish in big pond, year two they move schools and focus on academics.

Point is, OP was wrong. Busing is provided. Thanks for clarifying that Uber costs money, that’s a helpful tidbit.
