Yet, you look at every other "real" sport, yelling is accepted and thought to be the norm. Those other sports are where boys learn to be men. They are the real sports in this country.

It is sissies like you - the same ones who no heading would be a good idea to settle a lawsuit, also think yelling should not occur - who contribute the reputation of this great sport of soccer being that for recreational babysitting, sissies, and girls. Get your head out of your a$s, and accept the one true reality. That reality is that it is a real sport and the players deserve to be treated like every other athlete in every other real sport in this country and beyond. ***
Almost no girls are looking at soccer as a professional path for them. It's all about college. So yell and scream at the few boys that might (a mighty big might in the US) have a shot at a pro or nt path.

Unbelievable how many dirt bags don't understand the difference between being tough on players vs just being lunatics. Would you want to work for a boss that yelled all the time? No. Neither do athletes.

Exactly. Quality people wont behave that way and the ones that do will not attract quality players. These players really want to learn and improve. They dont want waste their time with a junk yelling coach. They are smart.

It is the dumb sissies that would waste their time with that behavior. Grow a pair, leave that bad situation and do something to help yourself.

What's amazing is how many people want reality to not exist - and that a Disney-like world embrace their kids for a reality that is distorted by the silver-backed glass which is bent and not flat.

There is no happily ever after for the kids stuck with the yelling coach or with the patient effective coach. Very few kids (or adults for that matter) learn better though hyper-critical instruction but if that is your players style go for it.

It probably was the way that poster was taught so he or she does not know any better.

Apparently your reality is one where to effectively coach, teach and communicate, we must scream consistently. To the majority of commentators here, effective coaching does not include consistent screaming. I don’t think any one minds a coach placing emphasis on his words to make a point now and then. The OP is talking about a coach screaming throughout the game. The good news is that if that’s the type of coaching and parenting you want modeled to your children, then you are in the right sport.

***Most of your kids don't listen. They space out. They do something other than told. They think they know more than the coach. They hear you say bad things about the coach. They think they know more and deserve more. They are disrespectful generally and are lazy and clearly do not provide 100%. That attitude is supported by your every action and reaction. They think that because you pay for them to be on team, they need not try 100% - need not devote 100% focus when at an event - and that effort is irrelevant - so long as they mostly try and come close. After practice, they tell you that they listened. That they were joking around. That they were focused and respectful. And based on all of your personal observations and interaction with your child, you of course without question believe that your child was 100% focused, 100% respectful, 100% effort, 100% of the time. So, you therefore conclude that your child's coach who has had to resort to being louder than at the beginning of the season is completely wrong in his or her approach. Your child's sh$t just don't stink. Of course, you are wrong.***

You will never ever solve any of those issues with yelling.

You guys do realize that the pitch is pretty damn big, right?? You need to yell to be heard. I think some of you might be confusing anger with instruction. If there's a doubt, then there is no doubt. Move on. Don't have to come on TS for that.

***parents are idiots. that is an obvious reason to yell as well. they would rather you be a a babysitter and try to explain nicely over tea at next week's practice why they lost.***

Maybe you're boring if most of the kids aren't listening? Maybe the issue is you the coach and your ineffective coaching style if it is most of the kids.

***typical. the reason kids don't listen and are disrespectful is because morons like you as one of their parents. but, be sure they can have latest gadget in their hands.***

We are not taking about volume here. Talking about content of what is said or yelled. Negative insulting dismissive coaching from an immature easily frustrated disinterested person is what has to go
