Anyone hear yet if U13 boys DA staying or going next year. And if U16/U17 boys DA will be split, as girls side did?

The Atlantic region has been testing U13 GDA this year. Dropping U13 boys rumors has been rumored for awhile, but splitting u16 and u17 would keep total team numbers (and club $) the same

Why would they have GDA U13 and not BDA u13? Makes no sense.

The lost revenue has to be made up somewhere and girls' parents are nuts.

lol so very true. But also MLS clubs don't want to train younger players - they want to focus on the older ones - and USSF is desperate to keep MLS clubs happy and in DA. In addition, USSF foolishly thinks adding GDA U13 is a way to weaken ECNL.

I think U13 GDA in a bid to keep players who may jump to ECNL makes sense (from business, not necessarily soccer, perspective).

On the boys side they have no competition from Boys ECNL so the major goal is to make MLS teams happy enough without completely screwing the non MLS clubs that are usually the source of a chunk of the MLS academy players. So dropping U13 isnt a terrible idea there.

It's always harder to have someone give up something once they taste it (i.e. high school). So my guess, and it's only a guess, is if they can lock them in before that they won't miss it.

Not saying it will work, but possibly what they are thinking here.

It probably is, and they will likely play 2 years in GDA before they go elsewhere so that they can play HS .... see OW.

The whole GDA thing is a disaster. This is just another example. There is no justification other than trying to brainwash 12 year girls that GDA is the only pathway to their success. A 12 year old doesn't know if they want to play high school soccer yet they're trying to lock them in and then make them struggle with a difficult decision two years later.

Is it anymore of a brainwash than ECNL clubs positioning to prospective players who wonderful the HS experience will be for them (knowing full well for some it is, and for others it isn't)?

nailed it. but in the future, please stop creating posts that are sensible. This is TS after all.
