Congrats, but was it worth it?

#unwatchable, really low level of play....compared with real ECNL. PDA Blue is the real deal.

Yes, worth it. It allowed her to develop her skills and play competitively in a sport that she loves, made great friends on the team, and gave her the opportunity to play at her first-choice college. The travel involved gave her opportunity to see other parts of the country and even visit colleges on those trips. Not sure why it is even a question.

I would assume that every league is going to have some sloppy soccer right now considering teams/players didn't play at all in the spring and had very limited practice leading into this season.

Players should have fun but once they start hitting the USYS level they need to look at the level of commitment and hard work a head vs just playing with friends. They also need to look at where they want to go with soccer. If my D ever said she just wants to have fun and wasn’t looking to play in college then she will be playing township ball. If she wants to seriously work towards playing for a top college then D needs to work on planning a path and work hard to execute it.

That is why league matters. Your D wants to get better? Then she needs to play to her level. No college coach or professional player ever said wow, look at them go tearing through the local league.

Ok first things first nobody’s daughter should ever want to be a “professional” soccer player. Secondly most normal people understand that scholarships if you want to call them that are but for a handful of kids. So again play have fun and always start there.

No kidding. But irrelevant to the review of the competitiveness (or lack thereof) of the league.

Why are so many people worried about whether ECRL is any good or not? Make the right choice for your kid and go with it.

Another nonsensical post. Why does anyone care if anything they pay for is any good?

So true, for example GAL is not even close to the level of the former DA but my kid enjoys playing in it and her team and that’s all that matters.

Why shouldn't anyone's daughter want to be a pro soccer player? If it was your son it would be ok? Or another sport? How many wanted to be a pro player in any sport? Just because it is unrealistic doesn't mean they should reach for it or that you, as the parent, shouldn't help or encourage them.

I bet you are an accountant or mortician and want your kids to follow in your footsteps.

Ok, sorry, how about this: Why do so many people whose kid is in another league worry so much if ECRL is any good or not?

I would guess on the whole people actually don't care excepting the odd duck who gets mad at the parents who claim their kid plays ecnl but plays regional instead. I think the bigger issue is misinformation. Someone might come on here and gone away with an impression of ecrl that goes with the sales pitch they got from a coach. It's like what happened with the alliance league. People were told one thing an the opposite was true. I'm glad your kid turned out well from the experience but the vast majority of people on here have started ecrl is the red headed step child of ecnl. Bad competition, lots of promises of ecnl move ups, etc.
