For a couple of weeks. But I agree. Then ID Clinics will be a must since the showcases likely won’t happen.

Think about what you just wrote. Most colleges and universities are basically shutting down for the year. Also cancelling their entire Spring Season.

You really think that any coach is getting an ID camp approved this spring. Less than a zero percent chance.

You wont see an ID clinic until August or September. At that point schools are getting their own seasons going and have minimal time for recruiting.

This is a mess. Best bet is if you have video to email that around like crazy. Most schools have their 2003 boards in pretty good shape especially since ECNL FL and Texas just took place. Coaches will probably have to hold some spots much later than usual. If things get back on track for Memorial Day weekend, recruiting should get wrapped up just fine. Just less opportunity for kids to get exposure.

A bit of a contradiction in your armchair analysis. In your expert opinion you confidently state that there will be no ID clinics until August or September. Then you say if things get back on track for Memorial Day weekend things will be just fine. In that case, coaches will be able to scout showcases and do ID clinics throughout the summer. Which is it?

Many universities aren't even sure about being open for the summer, let alone having events on campus for non students. A lot of HS seniors still trying to make their school choices are seeing accepted student events being cancelled left and right. Schools that are still open are cancelling tours for the next several weeks (my non athlete junior was supposed to do several over spring vacation).

But the ones most stressed right now are 2021s (juniors) who aren't recruited yet. This poor class has gotten whacked many times over the last few years being the first for the calendar year change coming as HS was approaching, GDA dilution, recruiting rule changes and now this.

You make some very valid points about the class of 2021, but I don’t see this continuing on for months. It would drag the country into a depression. More likely they will work to protect the elderly and those with compromised immune systems along with limit large crowds of people. But otherwise, it will be back to business as usual in a few weeks once they get a better handle on the number infected as well as the effect of those infections (say that ten times fast).

I do think this pause will reverse at some point within the next few months, but it will get worse before it gets better. Once testing really ramps up and we can truly identify the spread, can they also improve their modelling and healthcare system needs. Overreacting now by shutting all these things down in some ways gives the states a few more days to make up for the poor rollout of testing which will be crucial to mitigating it.

College coaches are really taking advantage of the new timeline and stretching it out as far as possible. Most middle to lower D1 soccer schools have very few commits right now. Hopefully it comes back to bite them and they end up with none of the targets they wanted

                  think about it
we haven't tested so we don't know the exposure but we do know how many have died from it and as of now that is a low number
with more testing we will certainly raise the affected rate (how much? 10-20-30%? maybe more)
but those are people who already have it and the death% rate will drop dramatically
its not the "END DAYS"- have some perspective out there

if they wanted you, you would already know it

Realize that you are probably coming at this from the perspective of a parent of a kid in the recruiting process.

Colleges are basically shutting it down for the year. Canceling admitted students weekend this spring etc. If they cancel spring sports they aren’t holding ID clinics. It’s not an expert opinion but common sense.

Youth soccer leagues getting back up and running this spring is way more likely which would include PDA on Memorial Day. Colleges are different animal. At this point their goal is simply to hold graduation ceremonies, assure ID clinics for non student are low on the list of priorities

Are most of these clubs that have no games through the end of April still planning to have trainings/practices? If it is outdoors with only 15-20 players and a coach, I can't see the reason why they wouldn't.

                          didn't think of that
they wont risk putting all those people together unless this mania calms down
                          graduations are at risk

Somewhat to my point. So many are contracting it and passing it without doing anything about it, the mortality rate is likely much lower. We only report on the KNOWN cases/deaths.
