Vegas Players Showcase (runs concurrently with National League - the NL matches are the marquis match ups at Players) sent an email saying they were still on and not to cancel plans. Really? Colleges are going to distance learning and cancelling all travel. College coaches won’t be going to Vegas. All those players will go and bring back the virus to their communities.

Will end up cancelled. College coaches won’t be going. Many universities are not only going to distance learning but also sending students home and closing dorms to protect community from students traveling on spring break and bringing back the virus. Colleges won’t be paying to send their coaches to travel to Las Vegas to be exposed to thousands of kids from all over. Parents won’t be taking their players to Vegas for the same reason. Clubs won’t be taking their teams for the same reason and also so they don’t get sued after a player or family member or coach comes down with Coronavirus.

          The truth

Tournaments will be back on full bore after the virus, this doesn't last forever, but a very serious thing today.

This is what bothers me. A quote for a poster "They have already put in the work"

The girls have put in the work to get to college, they have done great. To abandon what has made them successful prior to college is insane! To make the roster of 18, to get some playing time, to keep their scholarships they need to increase their training, play league games, state cup and NNL games. If anything they should move up to ECNL where most of the players they will be competing with in college are playing.

Going to the OPL or just doing a few showcases isn't going to cut it. The new thread in 2021 will be how many of these players are not playing college soccer.

Going into their freshman preseason they are competing against returning college players that played a spring season and attended daily workouts, and other recruits who played a full season of ECNL GDA or USYS NNL. To not at least match that level preparedness is CRAZY !

There is a good old saying, "Right now someone is training to beat you" this will, is what is going to happen to these girls next spring.

"They have already put in the work" is the reason most Oregon players who secure D1 commits end up sitting the bench. The kids who do get to play at that level understand that a whole different level of work began the day they committed.

All the players will bring back the virus? That's just a bit of an overstatement!!

Lol, you act as if you know who the players are, and what their work ethic is.

Correct, and will be playing in top level of PSPL next year to stay fine tuned.

The PSPL isn’t going to cut it. One poster wrote I act like know the players and what their work ethic is. I know history and this plays out. These players are not immune to rigors other this process.

No dog in this fight. That isn’t the only thing they’ll be doing. For years TS posters have claimed girls who play OYSA can’t get any good college commits. OYSA players, particularly from this team have done amazingly well. GDA players use GDA to commit and then quit to play OYSA, high school and other sports. In college they do just as well or as poorly, on average, as girls that stayed or finished up in an elite league. They also had more fun. These players have made good decisions so far to get great commits in the first place. Mine are staying in their elite league because it works for them and they love their team but we don’t begrudge different choices of others. Most of all, why would you care? It’s their life. Their choice.

The bulk of the coaches were going to watch the NL games anyway. Now their colleges don’t allow nonessential travel. There will be more tournaments later in the summer when the virus dies down. Vegas is a teeming with people from all corners of the globe so many parents won’t take their children to be cautious. Not all the players, coaches and parents that do go will bring the virus back home but some will. Money over safety wins most times.
