    Duh....
It was a great gameplan. People have been calling nonstop and dumping money into the school.
It was a great play by the school.

Look for a reorganization and reopen in August.

The Industrial Education Complex just can't be propped up by loans as people recognize you don't need a degree to do many jobs; and or the cost of the degree doesn't make a lot of sense. Teachers are the best example. A masters degree to make 40k a year is a poor investment in your future. Although after 15 years you will be making about 75k. And to a previous poster, no, by state law you no longer need a degree to be a social worker. A job that also pays 40k a year.

Electricians don't make 120k? You who doesn't say that? Electricians. Or plumbers. Or Police Officers, another job that a degree is not needed.

Most people don't recognize the purpose of higher education or it's origins.

Concordia offering scholarships? How did they pay for those? Ticket prices, sponsorships? Or were other students paying through their tuition.

What is the point of college soccer? Does anyone even go the games..does anyone even care?

Pretty sure Title IX Ted was banned from the library so he no longer has internet access.

Title IX man, a popular program at Concordia was nursing. I hope any nurse I ever had went to college!

What’s the point of college soccer is another question. No point. Just fun. Just like any other game. Enrollment and alumni donations go up with winning sports teams - at least football. Bonus is other than the rare full rides, you get students willing to pay the college to get to play soccer there. Know lots of players that went to a college that they never would’ve gone to if not for getting to play soccer there. 13 years of schooling but made the college choice based on where they could play soccer, not academics and overall fit.

Even if they claimed bankruptcy, they wouldn't have funding, staff and students to re-open the school.

I am curious about any lease or current use of the soccer field for the youth soccer club that was out there. Was field use already canceled for 2020?

Agreed, couldn't find if they filed chapter 7 or 11, but since the property is up for sale would assume Chapter 7.

What will happen to the spring season? Will the soccer teams continue on as normal until the end of the year?

what part of the school closing do you not understand. The school is closing on April 25. Any sports team will play the remainder of their scheduled games this spring. For soccer teams training in the spring it will be only for training because there will be no season in fall of 2020. No school = no sports

At this point, I don't think the university is in bankruptcy yet. Apparently they have been losing money and are ceasing operations, but if they liquidate may be able to pay off their bills.

Of course, given that students are now suing, that may change--I could see a moment in which their lawyers advise (or their creditors demand) that the most prudent course of action is to file Chapter 7 and close immediately, screwing students out of tuition. Depends on how bad it is, but given that they have a negative cash burn from operations, I'm sure their lenders would prefer they take the money and run.

Whether they are in default or not of their obligations makes a big difference--as long as they are paying their bills per terms, creditors can't really due anything. It's if they miss a payment that sh1t hits fan; creditors then gain a whole lot of leverage, including in many cases a demand for immediate payment in full, and if they don't have the cash on hand to do that the only option becomes Chapter 7.

Soccer is the least of this.

Understood but do the soccer teams have any scheduled spring games before April 25th and will those go on as scheduled?

Dude, call the school and ask them. You might be the only person on the planet who thinks this is an important question.

These players are scrambling to find a place to finish their academic careers. If they are fortunate they will find one that is a good fit academically and allows them to continue playing soccer. But soccer is not anyone's priority right now nor should it be. Get some perspective.

The big travesty is coaching staff and 1500 others losing their jobs. There are hundreds, maybe a thousand other equivalent or better schools the students will be able to switch to, many easily. While it’s a big bummer, it’s nothing compared to the people who lost their livelihood. A sister Concordia school is already offering to take all the accelerated nursing program students.
