Thorns have some of the worst teams in the country

Right at the bottom like 4H and easttside.

Eastside has been doing pretty good and has great new facilities. 4H also does very well considering their small size and low cost. The other Thorns teams are in last place but the 00/01 team is close to mid pack and might make the playoffs this year. If that pro girl that’s moving here plays for any of them, they’ll instantly go to first in the nation. We’re so lucky to have her. She’s so much better than any Oregon girls.

I can't wait to see the wailing and and gnashing when the REAL superstar (this 05 kid) benches some Oregon 00/01 player. GDA families preach that it's all about bringing "the best" together. Well, now's your chance for your kid to support that from her birds eye view on the bench. Hard to argue that she deserves playing time over arguably the best youth player in the world.

The superstar will only replace one player. That player can move back to their OYSA team and do just as well as they would’ve with Thorns and have fun playing high school and having extra time for friends and all. The rest of the team that remains starters will be jumping for joy that they jump up to first place. So, only one sad girl and she won’t be sad for long when she realizes it was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Or maybe nobody gets cut. Isn't there an entire thread suggesting the u16/u17 team could barely roster a team? I'm sure they have an opening.

And a girl of this talent level would be wasting her time playing on age, or even one year up.

No way the new superstar is playing on age or on the dismal u16/u17 team. No one will be cut but the starting #10 on the u18/u19 will be replaced. Whether the current #10 is benched or moved to another position remains to be seen. The other, maybe more realistic option is that the new star plays on a boys DA team. Much better for her development. The displaced boy will be sad but this is all about the new superstar. No one else matters. It’s exciting to have a true usnt player in Oregon and we can take credit for her for life now.

Big gulf in both size and skill between 00/01 team and 02/03 team. Maybe she's good enough to displace a starter on the 00/01 team--but she'd be a girl playing among women; the gap in size, speed, and strength would be significant.

She could easily be a great player on the 02/03 team; 2-3 years playing up for a girl at this age is far less of a big deal.

And putting her on the boys TA team (possibly the 04s; the 05 team is somewhat weak) might make sense.

I doubt the Thorns are going to sign a player to a pro contract and then farm her off to a youth club. That said, she might be better of playing for CA Thorns than the local version.

Get some perspective. The teams might not be great but they are still kids trying hard. Why put them down?

Highly doubt USSF will not make a big change. They are losing the big guns.

You obviously haven't read much about her. She's already starred on 00 academy teams from So Cal that would wipe the floor with the Thorns 00/01 team. She can more than hold her own on the oldest Thorns team.

My money is on thorns dropping the sinking GDA and moving to ECNL.

All the best programs are leaving the GDA.

This is the cruel hard facts. She’s leagues ahead of anyone on even the thorns academy oldest team and will wipe the floor with all the 00/01 players. Why in the world would her parents move her to Oregon to play with girls who are like c-teamers compared to her Aplus abilities? Unless she actually plays for the Thorns Senior team, its all a sham to make her look all the better against very weak completion in a very weak region. She was already in the strongest area in CalSouth in the strongest GDA league. You’d NEVER leave that to come play in Portland at our bottom of the barrel academy in the weak Northwest league. Family is rich and doesn’t care about money, college or career. That’s understandable but they also don’t care about her soccer development if they are moving her from CalSouth to Portland!

When the top 30 clubs were in Ecnl

Oregon teams like crossfire Oregon and fc Portland were in dead last

When they moved to da crossfire Oregon and fc Portland actually came out of the bottom but tried to tell everyone they are the bestest in the country lol!

Thorns are dead last right now.

Oregon is only good when the best are not around.

The game in Oregon is trying to convince everyone you are good by association.

True, the goal differential is pretty bad but are we missing the big picture? Isn't it about development? If you are developing kids that by definition means you are making them better. So it doesn't matter how good they are as long as they are getting better.

Worrying about being in last place is misguided.
