To think that ecnl was caught off guard is naive. Many of their coaches have direct lines to ussf hierarchy and were well aware of the concerns ussf harbored. Plenty of blame to go around but let's not claim ecnl didn't partly bring this on themselves.
Amen . Brilliantly put and the basis for why I may come across as pro USSF. Im not. they are both in the wrong, but its galling teat the ECNL seem to avoid rebuke. this was Arrogance( Lavers) meets Ignorance ( Heinrichs)

Yes, it is kind of Cohen and Avenatti... not trying to get political, just making the point. They are both slime balls, nether has really upstanding company it keeps, yet one seems to be out-smarting the other at every turn... so far.

I think this is all playing out exactly as ECNL drew it up a year ago... but if they signed longer term contracts with USSF, there could be some issues real issues still to play out. Why did the Hawks take their announcement down? Why are all the other clubs rumored to be doing the same thing (PDA, Eclipse, Stars...) so silent? Collusion anybody?

We all brought this on ourselves by buying into the exclusivity and paying a lot for it. Ecnl read the market perfectly and gave it what it wanted. No one to blame but ourselves.

Nope. At the USSF meeting in October of 2016 they literally said ECNL was doing a good job and they were not toiching the girls side. Two months later they blindsided ECNL when the Sanford tournament was going on saying the were starting the girls DA. Lacers and ECNL wanted to work with USSF and were told we dont need any help. Need any help now?

I literally refuse to believe, despite whatever public statements ussf made, that the very smart people running the ECNL were blindsided. To admit as much makes it look like they were asleep at the wheel. While they'd love to play the victim doing so makes them look incompetent. Just admit you think your smarter(which I would agree with) then them and move on.

Both sides share a portion of the blame. No point in quibbling over it all. What happens moving forward is what matters

USSF set them up for the blindside when they issued a statement that they were continuing to focus their resources on the mens side. They totally lied and then pearl harbired ECNL.

So now ECNL sent their top dogs in to sabotage US Soccer's GDA. ECNL let's their board members put a team in GDA, then they pull them out after the first year. Just awful for the kids involved. ECNL used those kids as puppets. Just horrible

I do t think that is true. USSF sold one thing and delivered a vastly watered down product with huge disparity between top and bottom teams that would not have made the old NPL leagues. On top of that the fall season was a mess with waivers and I would bet many clubs were not pleased about eating so much of the cost. For clubs that also had ECNL I wonder if they saw that when kids had a choice at a club that DA was hard sell.

That is EXACTLY what happened. Horribly manipulative, and doomed to failure. Boston Breakers Academy is the only option for elite players now.

Please spare us. BBA is not the only elite solution any more than Stars ever was or is. No matter how loud any of you one-trick club shills want to shout it from the rooftop.

The big difference is that BBA is the first and now only club in MA to offer year-round development in a competitive environment. So it is the only serious option for elite players that want to develop to their potential.

This club stuff is really monotonous. If you think GDA is a great program, do that. If you think ECNL is a great program, do that.

I looked up the history of how ECNL started, how boys DA started, and how girls DA started. There was no phase in for girls DA, and anyone whose kid plays in DA knows that there are many clubs that have no business being there. I, for one, was hoping those would be the ones to be relegated.
