No. Just no. If BS were a top BDA club AND had a strong girls program USSF "might" consider them for CT. But they flop on both counts. It's also clear that with two ECNL clubs in CT that there isn't enough talent in the state for a 2nd GDA club. Most lower CT players interested in GDA would head to NY before going to BS (and some already are).

One of CFC's biggest strengths is its collection of college coaches They not only have great connections to help place players in good programs but they do a good job preparing players for college play. However, college coaches really can't coach GDA. Their fall commitments to their primary job makes it pretty much impossible. As a parent do you want to pay top dollar for a coach that's really only there for part of the year?

Then there's the club's utter disinterest in GDA to begin with. CFC made it's bed last year rejecting GDA. They seem pretty comfortable in that bed.

USSF does not care how many ECNL clubs are in CT. They gave OW boys and girls, and now they could give the same to BS. BS will gladly take it.

Yes and no...I don't think USSF cared before, but given the latest developments, I don't think they want to diminish their league further with watered down talent. They need to stay small and have demand for the roster spots rather than trying to create many teams that won't attract the desired level of talent.

You see, just the idea hits a CFC nerve. It would be the best thing for CT soccer. That merger and would surpass CFC instantly.

Finally you have faced the music with the fact that FSA cannot compete with CFC, and the only chance to surpass them is to merge with another club. We are very flattered. Thank you.

As for some big clubs dropping out yes, it seems to be happening according to the rumors. It'll be fine for everyone involved and won't effect ECNL or GDA all that much. What it could do though is drive some of those clubs better players towards other clubs.

Right now the Stars, PDA, Hawks, etc have 2 teams in each age group, 1 in ECNL 1 in DA. When those clubs pull out of DA they will now only have 1 top team per age group. This is going to cause quite a stir at those clubs. 36 top kids right now across 1 age group gets reduced to 18 kids next year. The 18 that get excluded will be very unhappy.
Actually it's not quite that -- remember GDA has combined age groups for U16/U17, U18/U19. So half of the current U15 was not necessarily going to be offered spots in GDA next year.

My guess is they will see what they end up with and form teams accordingly.

Not true. part of the plan is for these Clubs to have 2 teams per age group in the ECNL.

The small number of clubs with the second team - those second teams play each other? Around here that is Stars and PDA- so it those two compete? How does this second team work when there are so few of them?

I believe that it is an option they might consider if they feel they have the talent to have a second competitive team within the division. But it would likely vary by age group and they will have to evaluate their player pool once the dust settles.

I know many scoff at the idea, but if the club is 2-4x bigger than other clubs and they are within a dense geographical population, then why is it any different than awarding it to another club?

I also know it's not altruistic...it's all about $$$ and not losing the folks who bought into GDA last year.

You are saying the two teams play in the same league in the same division?

I chance SiT’s and Derek’s and Farrell ever merge. Never heard ver.

The GDAP is done. They should add south shore select and FC Copa to replace those 2. These clubs pulling out is making US Soccer look like the biggest failures ever it’s pticeless. Imagine if they added a 2nd GDAP club in CT. They would hurt Oakwood and be a club with results like empire. LISC and NYSC.

It was fun while it lasted but really ?? Already horrible score lines for teams like Penn Fusion what’s is going to be like next year.

That was what they supposedly told the parents of GDA...but do they really have the talent to pull off 2 teams that can compete regionally? I think they see whether they lose players (who still want to play GDA and go to another club within their geography).
