Clearly D1 schools are choosing GDAP.

At least 24 D1 schools are sending coaches to both but guess where the majority of head coaches are headed?
    1) lists are still early and will fill up more as it gets closer. Some don't register at all
    2) Phoenix is more of a regional event, not national, so by its nature it has fewer schools and attracts more schools west of the Mississippi. In truth more of this needs to be done to reduce player and coach travel. It also would make shopping expeditions more productive since most players won't travel more than half a away.
    3) If programs are sending coaches to both events that is still a positive sign. But even if they don't they still have PDA and ECNL nationals to shop. USSF is trying to force choices by picking the same weekend but if ECNL still has talent coaches will still shop there.

Look at top 10 college rosters and you will find the west is overrepresented
It's also where loads of NT and YNT players come from

Biggest issue outside of CA is that there's like 4 really good clubs on top then a huge dropoff from there. ECNL of course had that to a degree as well but it's clear there isn't enough talent to go around supporting both leagues
It really doesn't. Aztecs and Sporting will be right there to send their money to USSF to take up those spots. I heard CFC Alliance and Simmons are ready to go too.

One year of success and now Princeton is a soccer powerhouse? Let's see how that plays out. Ivy education helps a great deal with recruiting.

Six of the top 10 NCAA schools last year were East of the Mississippi, 13 of the top 20, including Princeton and Rutgers and Penn St if you want to call those Northeast. Two others in the top 20 are TX. Remaining 5 are CA schools. CA population 35M.

I know, it really stinks when someone provides very specific and accurate counter information to wildly stupid claims. Princeton is at a distinct disadvantage for all D1 sports and they are still there. Unfortunately for them, they have standards for academics and do not grant athletic scholarships.

Still where ? Anyone of several schools can have a good period with a good recruiting class. The ones who are there year in year out are a separate group altogether.

Much of the top 20 have been top for many years - besides the west coast power houses you have Duke, UNC, Notre Dame, WVA, Penn State, FL, FSU. Programs with long track records attract top talent consistently over time unless there's a coaching change. Princeton? A one year hit. Time will tell if SD can keep it going.

Dumb thread. Do you honestly think colleges are just going to ignore the league where they have gotten virtually all their recruits from because some NPL (that were ECNL wannabees) joined a new league. Seriously. Look at the rosters of the age groups from last year to this year. Doesn't look like they changed all that much. But then again all you Oakwood people are new to the college recruitment scene. Coaches know Academy is still the B league.
