She could still be an impactful player, just going to have to work harder and get some better coaching then she has had.

Then, in d1, when you are playing against the better players and they are all pretty fast and have been lifting for a couple years, it is hard to get by with straight runs up to the ball. D1 defenders don’t fall down on contact like the trinity catholic girls.

Why is everyone being so critical? If in years 3/4 SHU is still struingbthen you can chirp. These coaches weee ha fed a bad bunch of kids and a bad returning team. Give them time to get “their” kids in and then judge.

College soccer is where all teh BS you were fed in Club and HS comes home t roost. In reality, there is ONLY one level in any game, you are either good or you are not.
In the US there are so many different paths and levels that all lay claim to relevance than kids can be conned into thinking they are good.
awards and accolades flow throughout this system and many players who are not particularly good, get told they are.
College is the great leveler
1. Recruiting. who recruits you says a lot about how good you are. Forget the $$ you get, just who recruits you.
2. once you actually get to a school to play, which is it and how well do you do ?
College coaches jobs are on the line. They are going to go with kids who can help them win. At that point the years of lies suddenly catch up.
People are suddenly surprised that all those accolades etc do not make a player good in the wider scheme of things. Its usually the parents of kids who were less decorated who come here to gloat.

It's very eye opening. It's good for players to go in knowing that it can happen (and obviously to work hard so that it doesn't). It also reinforces the importance of picking the right school for academics, not just athletics

it better for player to know that sports is ALL about talent. best to know that early. long before you get to College.
you last line is clearly true, but the BALANCE of a kids like with respect to academics, athletics an./or anything else is something they should be addressing long before College. In girls soccer, parents pay fortunes to skew that balance to an unhealthy place that quite often
THE KIDS DESIRE DOES NOT MATCH
its this that creates what we have now. millions of dollars spent on kids who do not have the talent or frankly desire it takes. then the pressure is on to play in College, etc and that creates the problem. Over time as the kids gain some independence, they may manage to actually do what they should have done years ago. Play at a level that allows them to do all the other things they want to do or perhaps not play at all.
the top level soccer market is built on parental pressure . it is MANY x the size it should be based on talent alone because no one wants to tell the truth an the Clubs are not going to.
its how they make money

Womens soccer is a backwater. it allows this phenomenon to just carry on rampant
