    Smart idea

It’s a very smart idea. These top 25 clubs are the ones doing the work, they know best how to serve their local customers, can keep the schedules beneficial to the players and keep costs down. Everyone wins except the overpaid middleman. More top talent will be developed in a local club run system so colleges and the national teams will benefit too. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea! The lesser soccer states can all carry on with an Odp or gda or ecnl type system for the better players in the states without high level clubs.

When is this new league supposed to start up?

USYS has the platform already in place called the National League (for top 25 clubs non DA). This way the DA can have the ultra elite Pro club Academies and the handful of really special clubs across the nation. Add a layer of the next 25 strictly youth clubs in the national league and everyone else stays the course in their state/regional leagues. How you get promoted to the DA is up to US Soccer and gaining entry into the 'national league' is up to usys. Here in Oregon we will still have the option of playing in Far West Regional league (NW) and our statewide and metro wide 'baby' DA for boys. Let's clean up this mess!

The GDA has been a disaster so this is great news. GDA never really got any traction.

DA will be the third tier after these two.

I hear GDA is starting to let kids do high school sports so that is a welocome change.

Gda isn't elite af this point. It's drowning.

It's all about who the best flock leader is and if others will follow . Always has been and always will be.

Some clubs are going back to ECNL. USSF completely underestimated the draw of HS sports, particularly when it comes to pay to play. For boys playing for free at a pro club? That's a different animal. For a girl that just wants to play in college? No need for DA.

Unfortunately once you hit the U13+ years it will about whether players make it to the college level. Unfortunately that is a huge driver in family decision making. Of course one bonus of this system is it's West Coast focused so coaches from West coast schools can see plenty of players without a lot of travel. They don't want to go to FL to see local players any more than local players want to go to FL

I haven't seen any proof of that. Watch out for the propaganda on this board. ;)

The DA mandates for both Boys & Girls; no recreational HS Soccer. Waivers are granted for the special players of course and they often can do both (Club & HS) if they push the issue. Many seniors drop out of club soccer after they have decided what college they will be attending the next fall. The lunacy of saying there is no need for DA is an anarchist view at best, without the US Soccer DA platform there would be no structure or proving ground for the best of the best of america's youth.

Why not say just get rid of US Soccer? and let the clubs across the nation charge whatever they want, form whatever leagues they want and continue on the path of producing the cookie cutter 'pay to play' rejects that litter the youth national teams and mediocre colleges. Brilliant.

Oregon can only produce 1 elite (best of the best) age group team for the Girls DA, based on a model that funnels every local non profit clubs best players to them. The Boys DA in Oregon, Timbers gets the bonus of importing as much talent as they need from anywhere on the globe, to fill the void of Oregon's talent base. The Oregon Girls on the other hand have a much tougher path of being relevant in an elite DA or even regional leagues, without any bump from imported stars.

Our local clubs have proven in the last decade it's only about fiscal club survival and meeting payroll, cementing their directionless existence. Without any leadership that demands excellence and creates a winning/development model; succinctly a club that attracts top parents, players & coaches, don't expect the quality of soccer in Oregon to trend in positive direction any time soon. Just a bigger sea of acronyms and mediocrity to digest.

You probably should stop believing every lie you've been told about the DA as well as try to have some common sense. The DA is a joke. Even if it isn't with 10-15 clubs it's still a joke in Oregon.

The National DA has an 11 year track record for the boys the girls have just started this year.

Oregon clubs are a joke, you nailed it.

What's the BDA track record? I recommend not digging too deep as it will cause nausea and headaches. Suffice it to say we've been spinning our wheels, trying to bike up a steep mountain, getting no more than a few feet

Why do we want our girls to emulate our men's US Soccer results? Is World Cup best enjoyed from A couch for a top player? DA looks good?
