The GDA is collapsing

This is going to unravel the GDA to some extent. The GDA really does not serve the players well.

It serves some of them very well. There just aren't enough of them to sustain the size league USSF initially envisioned. They over-estimated their ability to talk more quality players and clubs into moving over. It will still be alive but in a smaller version. Then they will introduce some other new and improved super league in another year or so after they see it's clearly going nowhere.

Meanwhile, kids/families are left trying to find the best places for them, disgusted by all of it.

This was their response (released today?) to hemorrhaging top teams from their league? OMG... they just don't get it.

This only works if more than half the participants have ever given more than a passing thought about trying to find their way on to the WNT.

The problem isn't the validity of the USSF "philosophy", it is that they are trying to sell something that 99% of their customers aren't interested in. There are only a very small handful of girls in your league thinking about paths to the WNT. The masses are starting to figure out that they are seen by the USSF as nothing more than practice cones for the 20 or so girls at each age whose development you are truly concerned about.

ECNL sucks too, but they are selling a service that better meets the demand of their customers, a path to play in college without all the b.s.

DA should be strictly reserved for boys at the 25 MLS Franchises.. does not work for girls

Girls should be in a promotion/demotion model such as FSPL/SRPL/National League.

I happened to be at the airport with many D1 head coaches and in conversation asked them if they were scouting in other leagues. They responded that while many colleges may send scouts to ECNL showcases, their primary focus is on the DA. They realize that due to geographical constraints many elite players do not have the option to play to DA, but nevertheless, all of the head coaches will always attend DA games and showcases.

The DA was amazing this year and only getting better. While many clubs have to still get a bit more organized, the league itself did an outstanding job on its first run. The schedules, were well thought out. The refs were a much higher caliber, and the rules were so much better. There was a DA scout at every game taking notes and for the most part parents dictating a club was eliminated. The players knew that every game was a showcase for them. Very refreshing and looking forward to an even better season next year.
