No more MA teams travelling to RI?

With Rhode Island now removed from the list of "Low Risk" states for Massachusetts... does this mean that MA soccer teams will no longer be able to have practices or play games in Rhode Island?

(Assuming that teams wouldn't want to have to quarantine or get tested after spending a couple of hours at a Rhode Island soccer field).

Seems a little arbitrary and pot/kettle for MA to restrict RI, when MA's 7-day new average cases has gone from a little under 200/day a month ago to >500/day now, while RI's "shot up" to 133/day a few days ago and are 111/day as of today. And MA's 7-day average deaths has moved back up into the 20s, while RI's has been sitting at 1/day for a week and a half. But I get it, both MA and NY are playing petty interstate political games because RI was so restrictive toward them in the beginning.

They are looking at 2 metrics to make this decision:
Percent of positive tests and number of cases per 1,000 population.
In both of these, RI is not doing good and in fact, much worse than MA.

The percent of positive tests is nearly identical in Mass & RI (2.2% to 2.7%). This is petty politics it's absolute worst. The real risk is putting kids back in school, not travelers from RI.

Baker's cracking under the pressure and the fall is going to be a nightmare....

That 2.7% is not accurate according to JH University... they have it at 5.3%

If MA reaches 5% we can anticipate youth sports moving back to Phase 2 which means no games or scrimmages and just drills, as well as likely complete remote learning for schools. No one wants that. Wear a mask and social distance.

"F-U! Nobody can tell me what to do!" I mumbled through fabric in reply from three yards away...

Ok, seriously, why would anyone need to go to RI anymore? We can practice, scrimmage and play here.

The first people to complain about the possibility of going back to Phase 2 and remote learning for schools are likely some of the same people who are not wearing masks or social distancing. Lots of FB feeds with people partying like there is no pandemic. A couple more weeks of the rising numbers and MA will be at 5% positive level.

We need to all stop listening to our news channels of choice. Go look at the data for yourself. It's on Mass gov website. Link below is to Aug 4 update. We are trending fine. You'd think from the news we're about to explode. I'm not a right wing nut job and hate Fox as much as anyone but honestly I'm starting to hate CNN/MSNBC just as much. We need to take this seriously and stay on top of it (wear a mask, social distance etc.) but we can't freak out every time some number trends up a tenth of a percent for a couple of days or there is some one off anecdotal report of someone under the age of 82 getting sick. This thing isn't going away - we have to learn to live with it.

They set a threshold a while back. RI went over. Not just MA making this call, but NY, CT, NJ as well.

The rates aren’t worlds apart, but they aren’t early identical, either. People would probably notice if their interest rates went from 2.2 to 2.7% or vice versa.

Spot on. Florida and AZ are already on the downslope from their mini-spikes. There is simply no hiding from this virus, we just have to press on.

Press On. This is such a simple solution, yet so unpopular among the intelligentsia.
The original science made it clear you can't beat Covid19. Why? We have never beaten a cronavirus. The goal was to flatten the curve and build preparedness to reduce unnecessary death from hospitals being overwhelmed. We did that.

Anyone spreading fear is 100% driven by politically motivation, and presents a far greater risk to public health than the spread Covid
