Originally posted by Unregistered View PostAll fall sports just can't be moved to the Spring. Don't have the facilities or Athletic Training or Operational staff to deal with that. And, no one knows what it will look like. I expect the Ivies may say they are 'considering' moving sports to spring and will reassess later this year, just to give a tiny bit of hope and keep people from losing their sh1t on them. The only sport they may end up doing that for is Football, and Basketball, for revenue purposes. They'll end up saving hundreds of thousands of dollars on the other ones, which they will need to make a dent in the lost revenue from the big sports.

....multi-sport athletes, lack of facilities, etc. More ways it can't work than can. Not sure how these "smart" people think keeping folks from excising and interacting is not worse than the virus.

Please don't put fake statements here without a link to the source.
Very irresponsible to put fake new here.

So sad that uninformed parents are shouting out the people who want to base these decisions on science. Kids rarely get it, seldom spread it, and never die from it. Nobody spreads covid in meaningful numbers outside on a soccer field.
You'll probably win the argument, because teachers don't want to go back to school in the first place, but make no mistake you are hurting the kids.

I believe we need to discuss if this were true, which it is not, which leagues:
Pro Soccer
College Soccer, D1, D2, D3
High School Soccer
Club Soccer
Town Youth Soccer Competitive Travel
Town Youth Soccer Rec.
Town Youth Soccer Development Programs
Can't just say no soccer with out getting into the specifics. This is why this post is fake no news source no details.

Even at schools that have cut D1 and D2 teams altogether (mostly sports like gold, swimming but two men's soccer teams have been ax'd) they are honoring all athletic scholarships. In the short term they save on salaries, travel etc, longer term the missing scholarship $.

Pros are playing but are being tested regularly
You cannot do that with youth sports so there is a risk still. Whether a parent is willing to take a risk is irrelevant if the leagues don’t want to take that risk there will be no soccer, also referees (look at that demographic) young kids will ref more games because the older refs won’t do it
As much as I want fall sports, realistically it’s not looking good

HS only if they are in school full time. Any types of partial in person means no competitive sports.
Town soccer isn’t happening at this point. Hingham has said no travel games until at least Columbus Day (not sure why they think it will be okay in mid October to play other towns)
Clubs will do their best but if soccer stays as high risk in MA then there won’t be a season.
