Not commenting on what is cheaper, but tuition doesn't cover all the costs to play.

would be more than in NEP, however, with the realignment of ECNL in the northeast, there will be no trips to PA or MD for MA teams. If you have a kid on a MA ECNL team, 5 of the 8 teams they play against are an up and back trip—no hotel.
The whole “waste of money” thing is comical. Would it be cheaper for my kid to play town soccer for $150? Sure. But that’s not comparing apples to apples.

For this soccer season there will be no such thing as a national league. Everything will be strictly local and maybe by the spring a little bit regional - if we get lucky - you will see. Things are reverting to how they used to be before all these crazy national leagues appeared, localized soccer!
And that doesn’t even take into account the fact that the college scholarships are drying up faster than the Sahara. ECNL hangs its hat on the pathway/scholarships to college soccer - what happens when there are no more college athletic scholarships or even teams for that matter? Seems far fetched but it wouldn’t be surprising- colleges are in a world of hurt financially and eventually will be forced to make budget cuts.

Honestly, it's worth the $ to us either way. Even if they just train and scrimmage. Games will be a bonus. My kids like their coaches and teammates. And I'd like to keep our club afloat, they are good people.
But the players and coaches who don't know anyone, change clubs every year, and are ready to stab each other in the back for any advantage - yeah, they might be wondering if it's worth it.

How does this happen under the Phase III-Step 1 guidelines?
No tournaments may be held during the duration of Phase III, Step 1.
A “Tournament” is defined by the Commonwealth as a formal contest that consists of multiple games between multiple persons or teams, that might include multiple stages, played in a condensed period of time, such as over the course of a single day or multiple days in a row.

Genuine question, what's the differentiation between playing a "tournament" and say a club hosting some pre-season 'in-house' games between it's own teams over a day/weekend?
e.g.
- Club X A team 06 v Club X B team 06
- Club X A team 06 v Club X B team 05
- Club X B team 06 v Club x A team 07
Is this allowed? I wouldn't call it a tournament as such... but it's still multiple games, etc
Can be dressed up as just club scrimmaging in training kits and no spectators and they "train" twice in a day...
