Other than last year’s U19 team which finished 3rd from bottom and missed the playoffs by a long way, Thorns academy other teams finished dead last in recorded age groups last year in a very weak conference. The best players, including the top scorers, from the 3rd from bottom. U19 team either graduated or left to play high school. Some from last years dead last u17 team replaced them (apparently along with at least one girl who was cut from her high school team). This year’s u19 team isn’t as good as last year’s but their conference is even weaker as GDA is having troubles in WA and Cal North as well. Many GDA seniors leave to go have fun playing HS and a life their senior year.

We all know all the players on the Thorns teams because they played with and against other Oregon girls until they switched to Thorns. No one is fooled that those players are suddenly superstars when they never were before, even in OYSA. Thorns did get several of Oregon’s top players but most never joined the Thorns and the best ones that did have mostly graduated or left. We know from the folks in CA that the new media circus show player is good but didn’t even dominate on her team down south nor is she now. We know all the other players, so we know Jesuit and the top 10 high schools would beat the Thorns u19 team. The top 5 HS teams would easily beat them and Jesuit would crush them. Everyone knows that and that is why the Thorns has a hard time filling rosters. No player wants to give up everything to go play on a team that is worse than the one they’re already on. Moreover, Thorns are located in Oregon but aren’t a part of Oregon soccer at all anymore so it doesn’t much matter. It looks like the individual thorns players are doing what they want and are doing just fine with similar college commits as Oregon’s OYSA and ECNL players so everyone is happy.

      1. Jesuit is a joke and everyone knows the sicko catholic organization is the highlight of some of the mediocre players lives only because they compete against local schools.

      2. Jesuit would get murdered by most any club team. Just the facts.

      3. Thorns is smoke and mirrors. Nothing more.

There is a DA level, it's US Soccer's elite youth platform for girls & boys nationwide with direct connection to the pros and all of our US Nat teams. Oregon has no local 'club' accepted into this platform to date.

ECNL is a brand name for a girls club league housed within the kiddo org called US Club Soccer, a sister or mirror of the nationwide USYS org. Their is no entity called the ECNL it's not the DA it's a branch of US Club kiddo org, succinctly it's no different than any USYS league.

Many local club teams across the country that aren't in the prestigious DA can be competitive with DA level teams in a given match. But it's worth mentioning Oregon doesn't have any of those type of local clubs or teams who would be relevant in the elite DA platform. Just the sad truth folks.

So of course those clubs not accepted to the DA from Oregon get to choose either: USYS or US Club offerings, it's not like the DA is inviting them to move up a level and join the nation's elite DA platform. If they were relevant they would be invited up, they are not.

US Club and USYS sanctioned play is the perfect fit for the Oregon local clubs/team/girls and parents.

The DA level is a bridge too far for Oregonians, see modern day Thorns DA results or reach back to the local club fodder of CU & FC teams that were part of the (Pre DA) US Club 'ECNL' they set records that will never be broken for losses and margin of defeats.

The DA coming online for girls left a perfect space for lower tiered clubs to play with US Club Soccer and the USYS. Now if you like to travel and play teams just like your neighborhood clubs, the US Club league (ecnl) is a great choice.

Please don't judge us if we chose to travel and play outside the area, just based on the fact we can afford the ridiculous costs of useless travel.

        It's our money, honey!

Local OYSA teams are better than the thorns.

          Let that sink in....

Elite my ass. Da in Oregon is a joke. Next time your team is full of everyone’s left overs don’t come on here trying to lie to people...

              Just to pile on.

Please let us know when your local club's application for the boys or girls DA finally gets approved or accepted.

              HS Soccer is your destiny.

              Enjoy.

Nobody wants DA. Players, clubs, parents.

Didn’t they dump the whole thing on Westside?

Chunky Mom can't help herself. She has to blast the Thorn's so that she can feel better about her daughters 8th ranked (in Oregon) CU ECNL team. Meanwhile there's a sale on hostess at the local Fred Meyer. Dig in!

Funny that you are trying to bully someone who is half your size and would have you wrapped up and crying on the ground in about 15 seconds, if not sooner. It's kinda of sad and pathetic to see a grown man cry for mercy.
