Until your league is gutted (ecnl) and somehow, some way, your former doormat neighborhood club starts do something unimaginable, winning vs the leftovers in your skeleton league. (CU & FC 2018 ecnl league)

Then it's time to flip the big 'well done', exposure top competition narrative of past years, to the delusional notion you are now a top team in the 'nation'.

Spin cycle of insanity that is a pure joy ride for us onlookers.

The thorns are just getting started. Give them a few years before you give up on them. The point is not to win games. It is to get better and have fun.

Getting 6 wins in 36 games is pretty good really.

My guess is because of the ban on high school and also a few other things. We will see how it pans out over time.

The Thorns teams negative -43 goal differential is quite good. Nobody cares about goal differential.

Why the ax to grind? Thorns play in a much tougher league. There are great players and not so great players on Thorns teams but Thorns teams would still be top 1-3 in OYSA. Can’t compare apples to oranges.

Now that high school soccer is over, I see the ECNL coaches are out recruiting again...

Hahahahahahah. Thorns are 3-4 in the state.

Don’t justify your poor choice in a league with a lie that doesn’t even come close to truth.

Crossfire Washington Timbers gps Eastside all have teams that are better than the da.

It’s not even close to competitive at some ages.

Oregon will always be fodder to the nation’s best DA squads, even with our pro NWSL DA fielding subsidized & highly selective teams. This is no surprise, two local clubs tried their luck against a watered down version (US Club ECNL) a couple of years ago prior to the DA formation. To nobody’s surprise they struggled even more than the NWSL DA does present day.

In the end, Oregon girls have no place in the lofty heights of a National DA.

But, the USYS and US Club associations do offer local level club competition for our kids, USYS isn’t as spendy as the travel US Club league, but both associations they take care of the lower level tiers of local club competition after the ‘DA’.

Yes Thorns would be top ten in OYSA at most age levels. Nothing wrong with that. Wins are not important inspite of what kids and parents think. . The goal is to take what you get and make it better.

This is important I agree. While none of us like to lose it’s probably a good thing to learn.

Winning isn’t an indicator of success but getting blown out is an indicator of bad developmental practices or placement.

Consider a forward who scores 20 goals in a season with 70 opportunities.

Thorns teams are not good and getting blown out like cu and Fcp a year ago. Forwards are scoring maybe 1-5 goals all year with getting maybe 20 opportunities.

It does not matter what the competition is, players are being under developed.

All you are developing is survival and not even touching excelling or any of the other 10 categories.

This doesn’t include the kids who do not play which thorns feel like it’s a good thing to take kids and not play them and wonder why they don’t develop.

                          It’s literally a sideshow

You can’t expect them to play the bench players when they are down by three or four goals. Need to turn things around first.

FC & CU placed themselves in the formwr version of the US Club (ecnl) pre DA and during this era they managed to set records for most goals allowed and the fewest goals scored. With so many outstanding DA teams in the modern day DA, did you ever expect to The Thorns DA to do any better?

Oregon girls have never competed with the nations elite clubs.

                              Where have you been?

With the top teams leaving the GDA this year that should help. Hopefully more good teams leave next year. Not easy losing so many games.
