I say sadly because in some cases it is just a lack of opportunity, lack of connections, or slower physical development, and not a lack of talent. While maybe your journey at that club may be coming to an end, if your kid loves soccer, it should not be the end of his journey. u15 is still really young.
As for clubs? Yeah most of them suck when it comes to being honest with families and how good or bad their kid is. There isn't enough talent to go around and clubs need to fill rosters18+ to be profitable. Many don't have good coaching either. Best advice is do your research carefully (ask around locally who has good coaching, is a well run club), ask to attend some practices at local clubs and see if it's a good fit for your player.
As for getting cut? That sucks too. Been there with one of mine. How you as a parent react matters. Don't be bitter. Encourage him not to get down on himself. Not everyone can play at the highest levels and that's ok. Maybe he needs to work on some skills so help him figure that out. Maybe he needs to work on attitude. If you find a good fit you'll see his enthusiasm ramp right back up. If he works really hard he could possible earn his way back in. Ultimately they have to want it and work for it, it's their path

Also. Let's be real. DA/ECNL for Boys is a chance to be seeing by D1 College. Pro-teams would have snatched your kid a long time ago if he was really good. D1 college, recruits heavily from overseas as they are more talented and HS grades are easy to forge. Reality is your kid will maybe be offer half scholarship to play in a small unknown college.

If that’s at a smaller school they like AND it’s free for you, you’re an ass if you see that as settling.
