This new separation is one month old. But you have assurances that all the trouble and pain that was baked into this decision, deferred for years and years, until now...will still provide the same access for all players, no matter if they're affiliated with MLS or not...then what was in it for MLS clubs?
MLS clubs want something in return for all the cash infusions, bailouts of their DA youth programs over the years...DA is an expensive product. MLS teams are more intellegent, and when they hand over money to the DA program, they want something in return other excuses that field maintenance fees increased.
They got it. Preferred accessibility, special status. You can disagree, but this has been in the works for years. With DA rolling out it's GDA program...with very little to risk when measuring the success of the program, (female placement in female pro league?!) it's a cash cow...so the time is right. DA might lose some of it's lower tier boy clubs once the true nature of DA 0.5 is realised, but the GDA will offset those loses.
I'm speaking of things that have already happened, and speculating why? You on the other hand have a crystal ball and misplaced faith in the (new) people running DA that started this process by sending out notifications of the new changes a week before the season started so member clubs could do nothing about it.

DA versus
" At the end of the day, the DA, MLS or non-MLS, is still far and away the most competitive league where the overwhelming bulk of pro and college opportunities for boys will come from."
You're basing this on what was DA last year. The schtik told to parents to justify the cost and commitment. Things have undeniably changed. You don't belong to DA anymore...you've been reassigned to DA non-MLS affiliated "bush league" you just haven't figured it out...but you will.

I hope you are rested after a great weekend of soccer across the City of Jacksonville. As we have all witnessed, our Armada FC Youth Academy has grown in numbers of players and geography over the past several years. The Club has a new Board of Directors in place with a vision for the future of the Armada FC Youth Academy.
Regrettably, the Board of Directors and current Executive Director Eric Dade do not share the same vision for the role of the Executive Director and have decided to part ways. The Board has appointed Pat Cannon as the Club's new Interim Executive Director who will replace Eric effective today.
Pat has been with the Armada and our predecessor clubs for over ten years and is currently the Technical Director of our U.S. Soccer Development Academy program and Boy's ECNL Director.
The Club's focus will be our continued improvement of communication and operational effectiveness with our members and our staff. We appreciate Eric's contributions to the Club and we look forward to Pat's leadership.
Respectfully,
Chris Dunn

Oh, and it is no more costly for the clubs or the parents than boys ECNL. Until you can come on here and give me some examples of FESA ECNL boys that are playing at MLS academies, getting invited to US Soccer regional training centers or national team camps, or being offered good scholarship money at decent D1 soccer programs, I will just keep my kid in the local boys program that has and is doing ALL of those things and that is Armada DA. I’ve seen first hand the “other option” in town, and it is a kickball club playing Bush-leagues soccer. No thanks!

Armada Girls ECNL teams will dominate FESA in the upcoming games. FESA all talk and social media. For a club that boasts about winning over development, it is time to put up or shut up.
Score predictions anyone?
