So the coach either realized he wouldn't take you on going forward because he wouldn't cut another player to bring your kid on full time, or he was actually doing what was best for your kid. That, including the refund part, rules out yankee as the club your kid was at. You couldn't pry a penny out of their cold dead hands and they would never do what is right for the kid
Regardless of the reasons, if the story is true it's good to hear of a club doing the right thing. Doing what is best for a player is not the motto at most clubs, let alone returning fees.

      OW never returns fees.

Listen, if you are going to accept a training position and then pay it all up front, then you really aren't that financially savvy.

A club would have a tough time with CJSA if they try and tell them that they wont "release" a player that they wont add to their roster and that they wont return any advances they received to train a player. It isn't tuition unless you are on the team. It should be pay as you go anyway as a training player.

If it was the OP's first time with premier clubs they might not have fully understood the long term ramifications or been able to see the future. Lesson learned with a lucky outcome. Plenty of other families aren't so fortunate.

I do agree training fees shouldn't be required up front for non-roster spots, but clubs prey on the eagerness of families to get their kids into a program. Doesn't take long to realize this is all about business.
