The guest player keeps playing 80 min per game. This past weekend he played 80 and 71 minutes in consecutive games. Must be right at the borderline dev-wise. Google the name and he has a very successful siblings so club must believe in him. (and mommy is on the board at nysc where reyna was a founding director 10 yrs ago.)

Naturally the posts on BOTN state he only got there because of his dad and that other players won't have those opportunities. Sure. Dortmund takes on players as a favor all the time ;)

Not like international clubs do. US labor laws and parents adverse to the idea or selling off their children make payments a non factor. If clubs had bigger incentives to develop and the sell talent some might work harder at it. It would also help justify/compensate the costs of running DA programs.

NYCFC get zero dollars and the kid can move on to wherever he wants.

FC Dallas is signing homegrown players to pro contract in an effort to keep them in the club, and if they attract interest at a later date as a pro then the club gets compensated. Otherwise, like NYCFC, they get nada for developing the player through the DA system.

It's no wonder many MLS clubs are reluctantly involved with DA. They have to train nearly 100 kids a year and get nothing for it. They run camps and RDS to help cover costs, but they don't get any kind of payout for home grown players (unless that player stays with them for their career) like it works everywhere else in the world.

Probably by dozens by goals. What a mess.

You might have missed the millions of dollars Vancouver just collected for setting Alphonso Davies.

Someone had pointed out that only the Canadians get payments.
