Colgate is a very good school; like most of the Pat League schools. It is pretty. But as another poster noted, there is nothing around it.

Colgate is ranked #10. When you have nothing around, you party...a lot.

Went to Bc v Colgate preseason game. Very sloppy play all around. Bc dominated possession and very different style of play (possession) under new coach but couldn't finish. Colgate has a good defense, very few attacking options. Bc will struggle mightily in ACC. Colagte should do well with low scoring games.
Will add, BC with many injuries to start season.

Colgate played (direct) kick and run .Fc stars players are not used to possession style play and will take awhile to adjust.

Fc stars are used to MASS ball which is kick and run. Possession requires very good foot skills to be able to keep the ball and dribble out of the attack and a higher soccer iq.
            Most MASS clubs don't teach.

Colgate will do fine playing direct with a good defense in the Patriot League. BC will struggle with direct players trying to be taught possession style in the ACC.

I don't care what league you are in. If you don't keep the ball, you will always loose in the end. And possession ball is just that; keeping the ball. If you have it, your opponent doesn't.

                  Wow, how enlightening.

Agree Colgate will do ok with tough defense and keeping it close and maybe catching some goals with balls over the top.

Do ok? Isn’t Colgate expected to win the PL?

Wasn't Colgate or Navy picked last year too. Neither one in the finals. Navy didn't even make the semi-finals.

Explaining possession ball is enlightening on a MASS forum. Kick and run/direct is what most MA clubs teach. And, it's not how the top teams play (watch UNC, Stanford, UCLA, UFS, GT, .....).
