RI is a CRAP Soccer State

Rhode Island is crap for soccer. This is because the state population knows very little about the sport. Clubs from Connecticut and Massachusetts view Rhode Island teams as vastly inferior. Rhode Island are a pack of hayseeds.

You are an idiot. RI has much smaller population than those states.

What do they do when they get beaten by a RI team? Quit?

"Hayseeds"???? Perhaps one of the greatest basketball players ever was a hayseed from Indiana.

In terms of knowledge of the game, take a look at soccer viewing ratings, providence market consistently rates higher than Mass and Connecticut.

Idk about this...my son's RDL team had a winning record playing CT, MA, and NH RDL teams and didn't lose a game in NH tournament.

Pumas is not a club. They are a fake town team assembled by a couple of dad coaches. So there’s no tryouts. If you know the dad and he likes your kid he puts your kid on the team if there is a spot. Most players on pumas are a combo of NEFC and Surf. They also have a dad coach team called Ambush. Neither team is town or a club. Basically the dads found the best players (in their opinion) in RI made a 2011 team (Ambush) and a 2009-10 team called Pumas. Lots of people mad about it. I could care less. I think the mad ones are feeling left out.

Not true in regard to Ambush. Ambush is 90% a 2011 team that plays in 2009 divisions. The 2 dad's offer their daughter's 2011 club teammates to play for Ambush in the winter. When they need subs for games, they use the 2010 and or 2009 sister's, (no issue there as they play up 2 age groups), of the 2011 girls that are fully rostered on the team. Has nothing to do with thinking someone is the best or if the dad's like you or your kid.

Thanks for the clarification on Ambush FI. But the above is correct about Pumas.
                  No tryouts for either team.
This is RI baby it’s all who you know and Pumas are a bunch of dads who are buddies.

Are Providence children given 1st preference for this team? Where in Providence are the practices.
                    Thank You.

So you are still not reading this thread? There are no try outs. The team has been established for a long time now so they are not looking for more players. The Puma team is a combo of old NEFC 2010 players that are now Surf players and a few Ambush girls who play up when they need players. This is not a club or a team you can join.

RI is not a crap state for soccer, just a small state. It is political for sure on the town level and super disorganized ODP/SRI. But we have the amazing Portuguese talent here in East Providence and just over state lines in Somerset and Fall River. Out futsal training is really good and we have some passionate creative coaches. Our clubs are watered down though. We need to take all the best players from each age group and put them on teams instead of spreading them out among Bayside, Bruno, Mach 1, NEFC, SURF and Liverpool. So if you have a 2009 team for example with the top three players from each 2009 A team of each club, then we would have good teams. I wish all the clubs would just merge since our state is so small. Everyone under one new name RI Coastal Elite or something... the best of the best in each age group picked by the coaches. THEN we could say RI is great. Out population and state is too small to spread the talent over so many clubs.

Don't worry, the best talent in RI on the boys side makes its way to Bayside. Very few get selected from there for Revs Academy and some choose not to go. Bayside boys can compete with any NE team

Not true again. Let me clarify. For the girls, the youngest Puma team are all 2011 with 2-2010s(older sister's of the 2011s). They all play for NEFC, not RI Surf. The 2010 Puma team, are all RI Surf 2010 players. How is that dads being buddies? It is a team of club kids, playing together year round. Maybe on the older 2007/2008 teams is what you are talking about? Those 2 teams do have a mix, but 90% are RI Surf.

TRYOUTS, LOL? Since when do Superliga team's have tryouts? Maybe a team like WFF or CLCF has tryouts because of the amount of players they have in each age group, but the rest of the town, i think not. Listen dad, get you kid to a good club team, and you too can have your child play with talent year round. Or do what you say these dads did, go scout RI and put your own team together.
