    MLS Seattle v. MLS Portland

Best rivalry in the MLS, but will it even make top 10 soccer match in this country this week on tv? Has benefit of following FA Cup, so maybe a chance . . . .but really MLS is a sad underachiever.

Game was horrendous to watch. There's a reason why no one watches MLS games.

Timbers are just getting worse and worse - at all levels of their organization.

Didn't watch - friends don't let friends watch MLS - but am curious how many DA products were on the field? How many american players?

With a scheduled kick-off time of 3:10pm ET, the match immediately followed the 2016/17 FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea. While the FA Cup final averaged 836,000 on the FOX network, the Seattle-Portland match had 472,000 viewers on the same network and 82,000 on the Spanish-language FOX Deportes.

The drop-off in numbers on the FOX network between the 836,000 for the FA Cup final and the 472,000 for the Seattle-Portland derby was 43%.

Historically, the Seattle-Portland game is one of the most high-profile matches on the MLS calendar. And having the game scheduled for an early kickoff in order to place it as the second game in a soccer doubleheader on FOX was a calculated move in order to try to boost TV ratings for the US top-flight league.

Last year, FOX scheduled a FA Cup final and MLS game as a doubleheader on the FOX network. In that MLS game, between New York City FC and New York Red Bulls, the viewing audience for the English-language FOX network was 595,000, which makes the 2017 number 20% worse than last year’s similarly scheduled game.

I heard Lacrosse is the fastest growing game. Lacrosse also goes by grade age groups so it will be popular in the US where school based sports like football thrive.

American youth sports are all based on grade in school HS & College specifically.

Soccer is not an American sport and since we suck at it on the world stage (Men) our current solution is to use the world elite player model based on birth-year.

Until (MLS) Soccer becomes the NFL, NBA, MLB or NHL with a national TV audience expect more insane methodologies forced on our american youth, that only continues marginalize this sport in this country and feed the efforts of ex pats and slime balls who desire to make a buck off obsessed soccer parents trying to find the path to Soccer Stardom.

Symptoms of this insanity in our tiny PDX market.
PDP, DA (label), ADF? ECNL? RTC? NSC? GPS? Futsal Academies? Skill gadgets? Private Training? Youtube circus animal tricksters.
