I don't think I have ever seen an FSA college list before. I see OW and CFC constantly going at it but FSA stays silent. Quiet confidence is one thing but at some point a minimal level of marketing is in order. I was completely taken by surprise with that list.

Many are former S+ players. FSA will need to prove it has the goods with players they developed under the new banner.

Totally agree. Throwing a tremendous pipeline of youth talent and the best facilities in the region might wreck what S+ had going.

          1. Think. 2. Type. 3. Re-read. 4. Re-think. 5. Send. In that order.

For the U18 rosters (and some U17s) if there is a name missing from this list does imply that they are still waiting on admissions letters? So the list would be expected to be updated again at the beginning of April? For the Ivies and D3s the only way for a name to be on this list is if they were Early Decision or Early Action applicants, right?

i'm thoroughly unimpressed with FSA's list. shouldn't all the names be D-1 players? isn't that what ECNL is about? why play ECNL if you're going to go to assumption, central, uni of new haven, and roger williams?

The point is going to a school that fits your goals and preferences. It's not about playing soccer, or shouldn't be. Soccer is a part of the picture, what that picture looks like is up to each girl.

Why play ECNL? Because you love soccer. Because you're looking for a challenge. Because you seek top training and competition. And not because you're trying to impress some self-proclaimed soccer oracle typing on TS.

once again the hypocrisy… at one end, "ECNL is the only way to get seen" on the other end, " it's for the love of the game and the challenge."

everyone outside of ECNL should just quit soccer…

How is it hypocrisy if one person is in it to "get seen" and another person is in it "for the love of the game"? In fact, why would it be hypocrisy if the same person were in it for both reasons? You may not be fully acquainted with the definition of hypocrisy. While you have a dictionary open, try "jealousy" as well.

That's OK though. The other guy, Mr. Unimpressed, is much bigger diick. If he's focused on getting money out of a soccer investment it looks like 10 of the FSA kids and 10 of the CFC kids are headed to schools that give money. If he's focused on education, it's kind of hard to argue with going for an MIT, Brown, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth or Amherst. Their payoff comes later. If he's looking for a top 25 soccer school, well, what can we tell him? This is CT. It happens every few years.

Great accomplishment by the girls. However, this is not an "fsa" list yet. Most of the girls on this list were soccer plus girls who were already committed or well on thier way before fsa stuck thier sticker on the kit. Fsa added limited value. If you think they did, give me the name of one girl who was uncommitted from this class that showed up at practice in mid November and fsa had her on this list in three months from start to finish.

This list is more of a final soccer plus baseline that fsa needs to measure itself against to prove their model. It is a tribute to soccer plus who many condemned and ridiculed, but the truth was they rolled out lists like this every year, they just didn't beat their chest as much as other clubs. Clubs like Oakwood that would place 4-5 kids and claim to be turning out the best developed players that never played in college. Simply achieving a similar list in my mind is not enough. They need to prove thier value add improve on the list both in quality and quantity.

Many great schools on the fsa list, I am not sure what list you are looking at. If you don't think playing ecnl helped the player achieve thier goals, you are dumber than you look. Guarantee this list is better than what your club will throw out there if they even throw one out there

I have a question which would be aimed at both CT ECNL clubs but in this particular year maybe more at CFC. There are a lot of names on these lists. Great players. Great schools. There are also a lot of names not on these lists. CFC lists 25 on their U18 roster. FSA lists 21. There are 20 on each club's U17 roster. This may be naive but I would think that all players on a U18 roster would be graduating and some proportion (maybe 25%?) on a U17 roster would be as well. That's over 55 names. Are there really over 20 players from CT ECNL rosters not going on to play in college? That would be a far higher proportion than ECNL puts out in its marketing press release. This year, in the case of CFC, it would appear to be as high as 57% not going on to play in college (23% at FSA which is still more than double the 11% non-placement rate suggested by ECNL).

                            Is this math wrong?

The list likely isn't 100% complete - most of the time athletes apply early decision or early action but occasionally they are in the regular applicant pool and haven't heard yet. Also some families don't want their info out there. Given how player's personal choices are frequently shredded and judged I don't blame them

However you are correct that not everyone does go on to play in college. I don't know what the numbers are. But often times by 18 students are thinking more about their academic futures. Playing in college is a big commitment and isn't a decision to be taken lightly. Some might be burned out - they've been playing full tilt for many years. And sometimes players don't get recruited - ECNL will get you in front of coaches but it's up to the players/families to be proactive with coaches making contact, expressing interest, going on visits. The clubs don't do it for you.
