Too bad. Better competition than most other options. Worked out well for NYCFC though

Multiple clubs are reporting leaving the affiliate league. NYCFC will field an almost full complement of DAP teams next year.

Yes so there's even less incentive for clubs to be involved with NYCFC - now they'll take all the better younger players from the other clubs as well as the older ones. It was almost like NYCFC married them for the green card and now they don't need them any longer

What we should be doing is MORE residency programs, not less! Our NT players don't train enough together as it is. They probably didn't want to pay for it any more. I know some MLS clubs are doing or will be starting residency programs, but it's still a handful and doesn't address the needs of the NT caliber players. They really are idiots.

Another great result against Mexico for US U17s on top of the recent success for the U20s. Is the tide turning for US soccer? Is DAP finally making an impact

Very interesting hire. It could pay dividends for this academy club. Hope it becomes a trend and perhaps the DA players wouldn't be so robotic

DA in NYC is about winning, development is secondary

Especially with young players, our experience was that the DA club did not offer clear feedback. They had a core beloved group and the rest. Unfortunately this is not always talent related. Besides politics, favorite families who have been with the club for ages, money, and similar 'considerations' there is subjective coach philosophy which is often a black box (one touches even if a kid is Neymar like, fast running even if somebody has better communication and field awareness, physical even if somebody plays beautifully and still manages tough situations, passing sideways and back even if somebody is goal hungry w results, etc). Then they have to sustain the EDP team, so a strong attacker and a strong midfielder are sacrificed to have that team have a chance at the lower level. A child can be developing fast, get promoted in training and games, then grow by a few inches, to which his brain needs to adapt. Until then, he would lose grace. No long term development focus, nor any attention to the kids psychology. Being thrown under the bus/shown the way out at the last minute, after other DA clubs have done tryouts is not uncommon. At the end of the day, one is left wondering was the kid's development a consideration at any time? Were they going to share any feedback befriend it is too late? Did the coaches actually try to develop the kid to overcome his weaknesses and more. Communication is not just lacking. There is a void. Unlike high level clinics which offer nuanced detailed feedback, NYC DAs offer s...

With the exception of MLS clubs, most DA clubs are pay-to-play businesses. They need wins to have good records, which gets them into playoffs and continues to attract talent that pays their fees. Even the MLS clubs want the wins, but at least they're less driven by $ and being top dogs means they automatically attract top talent. Unfortunately it's the system we're stuck with right now. As a parent just always keep in mind this is a business - find the best place for your player that's a good fit with good coaching. DA is great if you're a starter, but if you're not getting significant PT you might want to consider the next level down. You'll still be paying, still be traveling, but you'll be playing which still matters for development

                                DA2 Program

I read somewhere that USSDA is planning a DA2 league. Is this still true? What clubs in our region will be part of this?
