    Ocys = cfk 2.0

Ok. So I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear the “new” innovative ideas that Orlando City will be presenting to us. We’ve been hearing things for months on how Orlando City was going to come in and set things straight. Well after 2 and a half hours of listening to babble, some of which was literal babble, I left with an understanding that nothing has changed but the uniforms. HM is still very much in charge and running things and we are doing exactly the same things we did last year except now we have to more leagues to play in. Well that’s great for far less than 10% of the people but most of us couldn’t give a rat’s behind including the 10%.
    *
    Things that have changed –
    *
We now have no idea where we will practice. The top two teams will now practice at Seminole, Central Winds or Econ Park and it will not be decided until after tryouts. So somewhere within thirty miles to be decided “after” I commit? As HM responded from the stage to the gentleman who asked the question about knowing up front so he could base his decision on what team he wished to play with, “you will play where we tell you to play!” Nice one Hue.
    *
No high school for elite players. This is not so new for CFK people as HM has said this from day one. The unfortunate part is there was actual hope as the FSA people have been saying the club absolutely would support high school. Then again, they also said HM wasn’t running the show or involved. I guess the irony of the night was most of the panel promoting how they were All-Americans or whatever in high school and then saying high school is bad!! Oh well I guess that’s why they have two sides of the mouth so they can speak out of both. Oh wait I forgot about the ECNL commissioner who said “Most of our clubs play high school. We don’t tell our clubs to not play but I respect their decision”. Maybe they should have prepped the guest speaker?
    *
One of the most exciting things in the new merger meant no more FPL league. This has been HM’s baby and pretty no one else has wanted to do it. So much in fact many people were choosing to leave and join OCYS rather than continue playing in this league. Well joke is on us as apparently like the Hotel California, we can check out any time we like, but we can never leave.
    *
Adrian Heath. I think this is a positive but based on many of the other misinformation (lies) I would expect he is going to have nothing to do with the club. He is the poster boy for development to aid in selling a few more uniforms.**
    *
I guess that’s it’s for change except for a few new guys in town that obviously have no desire to be above board. It’s really depressing as OCYS has so much potential but in the end will be another backstabbing, how do I get ahead organization run by the same old money grubbers that have always tried to manipulate the system.
    *
Lastly I have to comment on the meeting itself. Is that really the best you can do? One slide about a pyramid that is on every clubs web site in the country and we couldn’t even read it.** The minimal presentation sucked and most of the people rambled and didn’t say anything. GB spoke for 5 minutes answering the question about high school and NEVER answered the question. The fact the person who is the most difficult to understand was the person who spoke the most was equivalent to a Saturday Night Live skit. I mean really. Did you guys make this up on the way to the meeting?

I can't believe this post isn't lighting up. You are 100% correct with everything you said.
Thought Orlando City had a clue, but letting the Krush group make all the decisions for them. I guess not!!

I have to admit I know how you feel. I was pretty excited going in and left feeling like I've seen this movie before. I'm not one to come on and bash people anonymously but damn man. I'm bummed.

Well, there you have it folks - as the old adage says, "the devil is in the details".

ECNL is geat for who? Great for the handful of OCYS players who make ECNL.

USSDA is great for who? Great for the handful of OCYS players who make USSDA.

And the rest of OCYS? "Let them eat cake." The rest of OCYS gets to subsidize ECNL and USSDA.

Be careful what you wish for - it may just come true.

I don't know how great ECNL is actually for most who play. Probably the top couple of kids on each team have realistic chances of securing a top Div 1 scholorship and it isn't going to pay half. The other kids really are just supporting roles for them.

Looks like OCYS will have more "Directors" than Carter had little liver pills.

Who's been named Director of PortiPotties?

And you suckers will get to pay ALL of their salaries. Hope your Little Landymans and Little Mias get their fair share of attention and "development". After all, you'll be paying for it.

So, you were expecting that the people who finally put central Florida on the map- HM and CFK - would be thrown out? Try to be at least a little objective.

OCYS is taking progress made in the last two years by CFK, merging it with the facilities of FSA and the back office of OC Lions to form a bigger, stronger entity. You may not like HM- but the guy put CFK on the map and brought ECNL to Florida- plain and simple. Now OC is at the head of the table and will build upon the progress already made.

                    You now have:

                    -the biggest club in Florida
                    -affiliation with a professional organization
                    -ECNL for girls
                    -Development Academy for Boys
-Multiple levels of play from rec to State Cup below that

Sorry they didn't have a better Power Point. Sorry Hue isn't a Toastmaster. Sorry OC isn't fulfilling your every whim as an organization. You should seriously consider other opportunities.

Guess what? ECNL and Academy wouldn't be very "elite" if everyone got to play, now would they? So now people are going to start complaining about that, too?

Wrong- just a dad who looks at things with a little optimism rather than try to tear it all down.

No argument that ECNL and USSDA are for the most elite. And no argument that many clubs have ECNL and/or USSDA and non-ECNL and non-USSDA teams, etc.

The "rub" is whether club revenues generated from those involved at the non-ECNL and non-USSDA levels are financially subsidizing ECNL and USSDA.
