    Nycfc affiliate league is kaput

Nycfc affiliate league will cease to exist starting this upcoming season. Look for new pre-academy league to replace it.

The demise of the league has already been reported

No incentive for the other clubs to participate - NYCFC will just poach players.

I have a hard time believing any of the affiliates didn't know they were losing players since day one. I doubt this brought in any sizable number of players to the affiliate clubs.

Let's be honest, the players that landed at NYCFC were going there anyway.

The difference is that NYCFC starting next year will have a full complement of teams from 12-19. Previously they had the in between ages (14-16). Furthermore many of the affiliates now have the younger ages too.

The affiliates need to fill their younger teams and subsidize their older teams. Why do they want to make it easier for NYCFC to poach their players and revenue streams.

Exactly. Yes top players should up, but it won't mean that clubs won't try to hold onto them as long as they possibly can.

Beachside, Gottschee & Met Oval will be playing in the NYCSL Pre-Academy League along with FC Westchester, FSA and Oakwood.

                  FSA isn't an academy team

Yeah I don't get that one. Their teams play EDP and they are joining ENPL (they already have ECNL). all the rest fit, but it's of note that no MLS clubs are in that mix.

Yeah -- it's not a formal pre-academy league, just a league that NYCSL put together as a favor to the teams that are playing in it.

It's not the NYCFC pre-academy league; NYCSL are the 2005 U12s which is different than academy u12s which are still off by a year (because you know god forbid USSF implement the age alignment like everyone else did).
