I heard Barca is going down to FL to set up a scrimmage, LOL

Smart move McGlynn setting an out of league scrimmage you couldn’t win.
nobody in barca is boasting about this win as if they beat the best da team out there, it just shows that there’s clubs in the da that don’t play like they deserve a spot in the DA. it’s good for any team to know that they have the level to compete against these teams. looking at the gottschee’s scores, they’re doing horrible this year, but they’ve had some close games, so who’s to say there aren’t other non-MLS teams that aren’t at the prestigious “DA god level” that would get exposed if they played top teams. you don’t need to be in the DA to be a talented footballer.

It did not take me long to find this one. I'm sure there are others.

Fair enough. I stand corrected.

New to the game....

Barca as another poster pointed out, is not new to the DA (AZ), and not new to USA. BARCA NY is NEW, and they seem to be doing well in the 2nd tier leagues that they play in. That is not all bad, when you're a good team in a 2nd tier league, you're expected to win. Losing in that league would be a poor showing.

The problem in the NY area is that there just aren't many good leagues. Talent gets watered down, and there are MORE teams now then there were 5 years ago. Not the least to talk about the MLS talent drains, but BARCA is a perfect example as it wasn't around a few years ago and the players there came from other programs... ie talent drain from those programs.

But to get into the DA, the process isn't just about teams winning. In fact, the DA cares more about HOW they play vs their win/loss total. That is not to say that BARCA is playing wrong, I've been to several of their games and they look organized in the back, and while they lack a bit of possession/progression, the framework for good soccer is there.

The discussion on the table is when will BARCA be admitted to the DA? The answer is not for a long time. The DA has a process of evaluating clubs, and being around for 1-2 years and performing well is not criteria enough. the coaching staff must be evaluated over a few years, the clubs reputation and history must be evaluated as well. When they do get admitted, they begin with U-12, and follow that age group adding a year each year. But not every club gets U-15+ status in the DA, even when they are given U-12/13/14 DA status.

Given what I know about the process, the criteria for admission, and the status of BARCA, if you have a son or daughter playing there right now, they will never be a part of BARCA and the DA.

But one day, should BARCA still be around, they'll get in. Its just not a rush job by any means.

As for my suggestion to BARCA if they are listening, they need to spend less time in the NYCSL and more time in the EDP top divisions, NYCSL is where first tier clubs send their 2nd or 3rd tier teams, and its where good town travel teams play. Not exactly convenient for BARCA, but that is where the better non DA teams play.

As for the WIN vs a DA team, that is great. Winning is fun, and it does show that BARCA 04 team has some talent. Friendlies are designed to show people where they're at, and if that shows the DA team that they're not doing the best that they can, I'm sure they're grateful to BARCA for pointing that out. I also think it was valuable for BARCA to see that they have talent to play with anyone. Everyone wins there.

More of that... across all the ages.... with less parent drama and dodgy partnerships will go a long way to the DA.

Have a nice afternoon

But what's interesting is that Barca appears to have one of those teams in every single age group. I wonder if the USSDA is taking notice of this, because if they are really concerned about development, barca has made it crystal clear that they can produce the goods.
