I didn't say it wasn't a worthwhile experience to many kids.

There just seems to be a lot of Barca haters here who are under the mistaken impression that Barca is selling the dream of joining the Barca pro club in La Liga some day down the road when they have done no such thing.

Yes, having a European passport can help take care of that rule. Ben Lederman the first US Youth Player to play at La Masia had a difficult time due to that rule.

So if Pulisic was 14 and playing at Barca NY he too would not be invited to play permanently at La Masia.

The purpose of all of these operations is to introduce the Barca brand to every country in the world. In short, to grow the fan-base that will pay to attend Barca games and pay to buy Barca swag. They have been quite open about this.

They do want to provide everyone involved with a positive experience along the way, thus things like the trips to Europe for tournaments, but the overall goal has nothing to do with producing pro-level talent.

Last year at about this time there were about 200 kids that took a trip to barcelona (including my own kid). they played and trained at la masia while they were there for the week. so technically speaking....YES Barca kept there promise.
