He is passionate, plays odp and cannot get enough soccer and would love to go to 3 or 4 camps during the summer but a lot of the camps he's been to were filled with a lot of rec players and he was not challenged. We do not live in Portland but are willing to spend a week or two there (with family) so he can attend some camps. I am sure competitive camps are out there I just, obviously, don't know about them.

I am not familiar with the finezza camp. Would a U12/U13 odp boy be challenged there?

Note that I hear a lot of the high school college camps including UP are great and competitive but I would assume my son is too young to join in on those.

Thanks and I really appreciate any advice.

I guess I was speaking of their week long "on campus" camp for the older players.

Yes, I've heard that's a really good one. Just have to be in high school, I think.

With the exception maybe of Paul Goodrich's camp this summer, I dont believe there are any "premier" only level camps in Oregon that would challenge even the best of players.

They are all designed as money makers for the club or institution. Not that Finezza isnt, but his approach to the camp, the desired attendees and past players that not only will be participating, but also offering their experience on the field is something that is new to our area.

NW SOCCER CAMP its about a week long . We did it for a couple years till are schedule was to full. Great place for kids to also learn how to be on their own for a few days without their parents being around to pick up after them.

If you want to spend a lot of money let me help. Just bring a tent and sleeping bag over to the house. My wife was a high level collegiate player and will walk your precious DD or DS through the basics for a week. She's also a good cook I'll do some Smore's on the grill before bed. $1850 for 5 days and 4 nights. Whatcha think?

Apparently you didn't realize you were responding to a post from 2011. I'm thinking that after 5 years, this person's kid is no longer playing soccer. So all in all, a big fail on your part.

                        Summer Camp

This seems promising. My kids have trained w/ both coaches separately and they were challenged and had fun.

I like the part that is recommended that the players have at least RTC experience. http://baxtersports.com/high-school-camp/

It their inaugural year so no comments available yet.

I have also heard positive things about the Timbers Residential camp. Good luck and please share any other feedback/experience.

My 12 year old daughter went to the Timbers Residential Camp last Summer. She had an absolute blast staying with a group of her teammates. Especially since there was very minimal adult supervision. The dorms they stayed in were awesome. I was very jealous when thinking back to my own college days and dorm room experience. The coaching was OK, but fun. They did leave with an individual player evaluation. However, we won't be going back.
