Given that the Revs still don't have a real development system by which they actually train players and field teams at the youngest ages, it is onorable of them to post on their website the name of the club that had them last before they moved on to the Revs. Certainly understand the allure of being a youth player for a pro team, and getting to play for no cost. Hope to see them really develop this into a true all-encompassing, all-ages youth academy in the future.

(Thought I'd list the clubs represented and how many players they've seen move to the Revs, which I suppose is both a curse and a blessing. While not suggesting one club or coach is solely responsible for any player's development, here's to the clubs helping these players on their way, and maybe some day one of these kids will suit up for the senior team. Also didn't take into account mergers, even though I know Puma/Eagles are now NEFC and Boston Blast is now VFC Blast, kept MPS teams separate, etc. - just used the name listed on the Revs site, although in the case of instances were something like Benfica USA or Club Benfica was used, I did combine those...you can view the Revs site for yourself to see the rosters and how the former club is listed)

    Club - Total # of players (U16s/U18s)
    Blast - 5 (3/2)
    Puma - 5 (2/3)
    Aztecs - 4 (4/0)
    Seacoast - 3 (1/2)
    Cape Cod Crusaders - 3 (1/2)
    Bolts - 3 (3/0)
    Benfica - 2 (2/0)
    Bulldogs - 2 (1/1)
    NE Eagles - 2 (0/2)
    FC Blazers - 2 (1/1)
    Stars - 2 (1/1)
    Explosion FC - 1 (1/0)
    FC United - 1 (1/0)
    Bruno United - 1 (0/1)
    Inter Sc. - 1 (0/1)
    La Rinconada -1 (1/0)
    Northeast United - 1 (1/0)
    Taunton - 1 (0/1)
    West Hartford Premier - 1 (0/1)
    Western - 1 (1/0)

IMO - a lot of these kids are going to get little playing time and are not going div 1 in college so they were probably better served to stay on their original club and start and have a great hs/club career instead of just getting to say later they were on a dap team bench. a lot of pressure from mom and dad instead of letting the players decide.

How do you know the kids aren't the one making the decision? It would be very hard pushing a teenage boy to do something he didn't want to do and unless something has changed, these kids can still play for their high school teams.

they still can play HS, not that any college coach really cares about HS. I am sure most of these players if not all, never thought twice about leaving their old club for the revs, regardless of how much they think they will play. Tough to say no when the Rev's knock on your door.

Two players came from Crusaders United (maple) and not Cape Cod Crusaders(mps)

Then the Revs website has it listed wrong because all 3 Crusaders on their site say Cape Cod Crusaders, and that is how MPS refers to their Crusaders, as opposed to Crusaders United. Certainly wouldn't put it past the person running the Revs website to screw that up though, I'm sure they aren't exactly a soccer person well versed in the nuances of the club soccer scene.

In this particular matter, your opinion has absolutely zero value. You don't have a shred of knowledge of the particulars of these kids' situations, and why they made the decision to try out and what they were told by Revs coaches. In addition, I'm sure they are all thanking their parents for NOT asking your advice before making the move.

The training they will get is excellent. Far better than the win-at-all-cost MAPLE mentality.

The Academy requires all players to start at least 30% of the league games, and the Academy keeps track of it and lets the club know periodically with excellent reporting.

Don't make me name names.....there are SEVERAL players here that DID NOT want to leave their club. It was the parents.

The one credible reason a parent might do this is because the Revs program is free. Since the parents are paying the bill, then they have a say in where a kid could play.

But yes, I know several of the families who love the fact that they get to strut around and say their kid plays for the Revs.

Requirement was changed from 30% to 20%. Can still play in HS soccer.

Are there any rules specific to rosters?
Academy clubs are required to maintain a minimum of 36 full-time players on their club player pool. There is no limit on the number of players that can be rostered as long as each player starts a minimum of 25% of the clubs matches.

Can Academy players participate with non-Academy teams during the season?
Full-time Academy players are only permitted to participate on their Academy team, high school soccer team and National Team duty.

These look updated, they have games this week, so it should be accurate fairly soon.

I don't know all the kids on the teams, but I do know 2 of the kids on the 16s were with the Aztec 15 state champs last year, and they are listed, so I would guess it is accurate.
