Haha. I had the same thought too.

Yep. No matter the level, clubs want control.

        Follow the money.

Fifa/Uefa make 50+ % of the revenue and frankly provide zero value in the equation other than a cheesy animation and an anthem. On top of that they also dictate the schedule, which sucks ass.

UEFA also wants to expand Champions League from 32 to 36 teams and change the format from 6 games to 10. In other words, UEFA wants to make more money off these same teams while not paying them as much while Super League will pay $425 million per year to the founding teams.

I think UEFA and FIFA are over estimating what they have without the top teams. Who are people going to watch Real vs PSG or Everton vs Lyon? With the extra cash top players are going to migrate to the Super League teams and as a bonus now wouldn't have to play as many games since they wouldn't be eligible for UEFA leagues or tournaments.

This Super League thing encapsulated exactly what’s been happening with youth soccer in this country completely ruining the game. Special “Elite” leagues, clubs not playing State Cup because it’s beneath them, cost going through the roof to line the pockets of greedy clubs and so on. Pretty pathetic.

The greed that we’ve seen in youth soccer here in the States on full display with this Super League. All about eliminating any chance for the little club to compete. Absolutely disgusting. If a team is good enough they should play ECNL, GA or whatever. Taking away the soul from the sport piece by piece.

No relegation, no acceptance of other teams, leave everyone else for dead. Sounds like they are trying to replicate the American youth soccer system. All about the Benjamins.

One of the PL teams will drop out and Man United will get to field two teams

                    - man United red
                    - man United white

There is no "relegation" but 5 rotational teams will be included on an invite basis. The 15 core teams and 5 invites. 20 teams, two "divisions" or "groups" of 10 - the top 8 make it out and play the bracket.

I have mixed feelings about it but for the top clubs, it makes managing the players easier. In the middle of international qualifiers, serie a schedule, coppa italia, super coppa, etc - why should Juventus have to travel to Anderlecht or Slavia Praha for a 6th, meaningless match, after having already clinched the group... and those teams will get a lot of the revenue from this match, even though nobody would watch them otherwise...... it may be greedy but there are good arguements on both sides

It's sometimes a good thing to break through the power structure that has a hold on something as big as this....

Entirely different. No one pays to watch a SoCal Blues v PDA game while people would spend tons on a Barca v Liverpool or PSG v Real. Ans sure the clubs are going to get a boat load of cash for this but so will the players. Especially if they have to give up Champions League, World Cup, National team duties and everything else FIFA and UEFA are threatening to take.

It makes huge financial sense as people would rather watch the elite of the elite play each other. The clubs, if FIFA and UEFA follow through, would have a lot less games while still making more money. Think about it this way, in order for a club to make that kind of money they would need to win or at least make top 4 in league, CL and every other tournament. I'm not sure you've ever seen a pro-soccer schedule but between travel and recovery time it makes baseball look normal. If you could cut down everything into 20 games plus playoffs without missing a dime wouldn't you?

Without Bayern and Dortmund, this is not a Super League. I think this whole idea backtracks by the end of the week.

I guess you’re completely missing the point, a local town club like Real NJ should be playing in the top league. But they are denied, why? Simple the ECNL and GA are a monopoly based on control and limiting competition. That’s exactly what the Super League aims to do.
