Finally We Know Why USMNT Sux

Nice article on Hoppe in SI:
Matthew Hoppe: Schalke prospect's rise to USMNT radar - Sports Illustrated

Berhalter didnt even know this kids name until he scored his hat trick in the Bundesliga.
LA Galaxy idiots cut him after first year.
Not one youth national team training camp invite.
US soccer people are abject morons, incompetent, unable to identify talent, corrupt and slaves to conflicted interests.

European coaches at Barca Academy in Arizona recognized his talent, gave him a scholarship for their residency program. They switched his position to draw that talent out. They nurtured it, and he became leading scorer in DA two straight years. Sent to Schalke trial with references from Barca, they signed him, he now flourishes in Bundesliga.

In contrast, the way its done here in US by American coaches - if you are the son of a big whig (Reyna's kid, Bradley's kid, countless others) you are in. If your parents are soccer big whigs (Pulisic) you are in. Its a form of soccer aristocracy.

Morons here on TS want to claim there is nothing wrong with USMNT system and "Hoppe was just a late bloomer". There is no such thing as a late bloomer in soccer, a sport which takes consistent work and development from ages of 4 or 5. What there is, is idiot coaches and scouts, incompetency, corruption, conflicts of interest, lack of any financial incentive, cronyism and politics. Until this is fixed we deserve to be embarrassed every world cup.

Nothing like pointing to an outlier as proof positive.

1 kid that hadn’t been called into a US camps but had some success in Europe is proof that ALL SCOUTING sucks? I’m sorry you’re a moron.

Athletes / prospects IN EVERY SPORT sometimes are under appreciated. In football, baseball, and basketball there are WAY MORE examples of players that were under rated or not rated at all and subsequently go on to tremendous success. It’s NOT UNIQUE to US Soccer.

I guess US Soccer is the only one that’s not allowed to miss on assessments? Oh....wait....he’s only 19 years old and has plenty of opportunities to play at various age group teams or even the full NT, so I guess they didn’t miss on him at all.....

Michael Jordan was cut from his High School basketball team at a similar age that Hoppe wasn’t getting called into US camps.

Yet, by 19 years old it was apparent Jordan was an elite prospect. Hmmmmmmmm, it’s almost like sometimes athletes develop at different rates. Some peak early and plateau. Some develop later and reach higher peaks.

Hoppe is only 19 years old. He’s 6 foot 3 inches. That size quite an advantage for a striker. Has he always been bigger / stronger throughout his youth or is that something he’s develops into?

Do you even know or are you just quick to condemn the system?

                    wait....The system isn't working? or WASN'T working?

Because RIGHT NOW ..... there have never been more talented players playing for big clubs in Europe. There have never been a time when more Americans were getting opportunities in Europe. The future prospects for the USMNT have never been so bright. If you don't know this, then you are part of the ignorant American soccer fan problem.

fifa rankings are based recent results....and as the young talented US players have started to come into their own in the last 12-18 months...there has been this thing called Covid that has prevented national teams from playing.

if you seriously don't realize that this sis the best crop of talented young Americans ever then you are clueless and should read more, listen more, and watch more....you have no credibility.
