    The Boys 2009 Thread

I see the girls threads, but have not seen one for boys. Who else is ready for the season to kickoff?!?

I’m guessing all the teams are excited to get back to playing. In the 09 age group there are some very talented teams. FC Stars spring kickoff will have some good very good matchups. https://events.gotsport.com/events/t...?eventid=80184

How can they have teams from NH and RI play? Currently out of state teams can't play in Massachusetts.

Good question. Does anyone know the answer? Maybe team are testing before and after? Things get interesting for this age group once they go to 11v11. But overall I think you have some quality teams.

From mass.gov (amended February 8, 2021)...I don't think that any Massachusetts facility is going risk being shut down by allowing any out of state team to play a game until the rules change.

Moderate Risk and High-Risk Sports: Facility operators and Activity Organizers
may only allow Massachusetts-based teams of moderate risk and high-risk sports
to participate in Massachusetts-based Sport Events held at Massachusetts sports
facilities. Any Facility Owner or Activity Organizer that hosts an out-of-state team
at a Massachusetts facility may be ordered to close its facility or program.

So assuming those teams cannot play then there will still be 12 teams. It will be fun either way and happy that it is starting back up. Let’s see if they relax the travel restrictions anytime soon. Border town teams should be allowed to cross into another state play a game and then head back home. Can Maine teams play New Hampshire teams across state lines?
Which tournaments for this age bracket do your kids most look forward to playing in?

There are very few boys threads at all. Soccer for boys is sport #5 (maybe #6 with lacrosse in some areas) whereas soccer for girls is arguably sport #1. Heavy focus on the girls game here.

The most recent study I’ve seen has soccer as #4 with girls behind Track & Field, Basketball, and Volleyball.
As for the boys, soccer is #5 but certainly not behind hockey. That only occurs in this tiny pocket of the country.

Most of their players are from up here.
